Hi,
Are you guys working on OSX support as well, or just Linux at the moment?

Wsipple, will there be specifics for setting up linux (kernal settings/patches, libs required etc) on the website other than just a recommendation to install a distro like redhat, suse etc?
I really did not expect to see SFP on anything but windows so this makes me very happy. What's even better is this would allow the creation of a user configured linux distro specifically for the SFP environment making it lean, fast and stable. This is something windows does not allow you to do!
Now all I'd like to see is a "pulsar on Amiga OS 4 project" and I'll be *REALLY* happy. I guess linux will have to do for now.
(Amiga OS4 is a new version of amiga OS currently in pre-Alpha stage and will run on G4 PPC hardware. The hardware is actually already available.)

No, we don't want to create SFP for a specific distro.
Since all developers involved use different distros (gentoo
for me, FC and SUSE for others), this wouldn't make sense.
I doubt that there will be an Amiga version (at least from our
team), 'cause the number of potential users is two small -
otherwise, we could try to port to MorphOS, Pegasos, QNX...
We plan to port to OSX, Linux/x86, Linux/AMD64 and
Linux/PPC, should be sufficient...

This is super exciting! I am a gentoo zealot, but just bootstrapped my first OS and am not a true hacker so I can't actually help much with programming. I would be glad to assist with testing and debugging though.
Will Scope interface with Jack? ALSA? Maybe instead of shelling out for SX2, i'll stick with SX 1 and try out some of the Linux DAW software!
(This will definately lead me to purchasing another Scope board as I was thinking about switching to RME if I decide to finally flee the evil empire as many of my friends have done... RME has been supported by Linux for awhile.)

Hi all!
I'm glad to hear about the Scope4Linux project.
I almost sold my card and bought some that supports linux.
Tell me if I can do something for this project. I think I have some experience in Linux programming, and maybe I could help you although I do not consider myself as a linux kernel hacker.

Yes, I got PM's from both of you - I think I've answered 'em...!?
However, there will (of course) be a beta test, but it's still undetermined (and way to early) how it will be handled. Maybe we'll setup a bugtracker and do a public beta, we'll see. I'll keep you posted!
And it's still not clear if we'll port the SDK, I'll ask Frank when he's back - but this has no priority right now....

Just a note that if you did happen to do a public beta it would get me to do a linux install on here again. I haven't done that in several years as all the sequencing options there seemed really raw compared to my current options.
There are some neat tools it would be nice to play with though (bidule, csound, PD etc).

Hi all. Im a Mac User Tired of Mac Os9. I have Pulsar II with Mix'n'Master and Minimax. I Like them but need to run OsX. I use Reason and Logic in my Laptop. When you get used to Exposé you dont want to leave it. Going to Os9 irritates me. (excuse me my english is so bad)
My questions are: Will you support XTC mode for AudioUnit or Vst in OsX. I will prefer AudioUnit since I use Logic Audio all the time.
Do you have a date for Mac OsX release?
Im thinking about selling my Card in order to get MOTU 828+PowerCore but if OsX version is near I will wait.
Thanks

?!?!? Csound predates Linux. Not to mention most Windoze and MAC sequencers! On 2004-04-25 08:06, valis wrote:

Back in the mid-to-late 90s, SLab was also much more powerful than anything Windoze had to offer. In those days we PC users were stuck with either Cakewalk or... Linux!

I'd argue that Linux has actually fallen way behind in recent years. OSS/Linux was much better supported and documented than ALSA / JACK. That seems to be changing slowly though. It's great that CW is going to help rectify the situation!
Incidentally another great package for anyone who wants to do audio scripting is the 'SNACK' toolkit for Tcl. Yes, it runs on Windoze, MAC and Linux.

Here's hoping we all get to install Linux on our CW boxes sometime soon!

wow - I am learning Python and did not know about this toolkit

I was just pokin' around Apple's website
& saw this:

I figure everybody involved in this effort
has seen everything here already but thought
it couldn't hurt to post it...
