Hello,

I own all 3 cards, but do not have the time to test everything atm....

I want to put 1x Scope, 2 x UAD-1's, and a TC PowerCore FIREWIRE in it.

I have P4 2.8E and a P4 3G (Northwood), and I am not sure what to choose....

Any recommendations? Anyone here tested such a setup?

Maybe with Motu 828mkII as well?

Regards,

Hi there,

I have A ScopePro (15) DSP, a TC Powercore PCI & a UAD-1, I have them all in a Athlon system right now, but I am planning to purchase a D875PBZ this week, here is a post from Sinix that may be of help :wink:

LOL :smile:

I don't know how many times I have read that post, and here it comes again ......

He,he!

I'm leaning towards the D875PBZ atm,
but I own the two others also....

So is there anyone out there running this setup with any of these boards?

I have the Intel 875PBZ with P1, Luna II and SRB 2. Runs like a dream!!! I have read numerous things about avoiding the 'Deluxe" boards. The Intel are extremely stable, and the 875PBZ has no extra 'frills' to worry about.

if you're not overclocking,an intel mobo is a very good choice.

Hi Ricardo. Are you using Hyperthreading (ACPI mode) O.K on your 875PBZ?

I have to agree with Basic Pitch.
I have the same Mobo, it´s absolutly smooth and stabil.

EDIT:
I feel very comfortable to have an absolutly Intel system, because every program is tested with an Intel system, the rest is only compatible. :grin:

Hi!

I have the last week tested the D875PBZ with this configuration:

Intel D875PZ in ACPI PC mode, ACPI MPC mode,
P4 3GHz 800FSB,
2 GB ram DDR400,
80 GB system disk,
2x 74GB "Raptor" disks for audio & samples,

AGP =Matrox Parhelia,
PCI1 =Firewire I/O -TC PowerCoreFW -Motu 828mkII
PCI2 =UAD-1
PCI3 =UAD-1
PCI4 =Scope Pro (15DSP) without I/O card
PCI5 =Empty

It works, but when using inserts in the mixer in Nuendo, I can only use 1. If I load more than one insert, I get noises, regardless of what channel it is on.

Except for this, the D875PBZ is great.

Is the insert problem related to Nuendo or CW?

Jea,

Not sure if this is 100% correct but depending on what version Powercore FW your running (not software but firmware build), I recall on the Nuendo forums reading something very similar was a fairly wide spread issue. I belive it had something to do with early batch of Powercore FW's.

Maybe do a search or ask over there aswell.

Cheers!

PS. After re-reading your post, if it ends up not being Powercore related there is 2 other majors I would look at aswell.

1) I have read alot of nightmare stories relating to PCI firewire expansion cards, some as VERY touchy, this could be a case of the same.

2) Now this is a *MAJOR*, and thats the evil four letter word on PC "MOTU" motu us notorious for having some of the worst drivers made for the PC, just do a nuendo search on MOTU and see the flood gates open in regards to crackling audio, and poor bandwidth when using there cards.

Cheers!

UPDATE:

I installed a I/O plate from one of my Pulsar II cards, and enabled the I/O's ....

Turned off the MOTU 828mkII ....

Started the PC ....

:grin:

I went crazy adding plugins ....

Not a problem related to inserts anymore!!

I'm going to bed with a smile tonight!

jea

PS! Now I have to buy some A/D - D/A ....

.... and sell the MOTU's ....

Happy to be able to help a fellow CW user,

I once had a 2408 MKII and it was a serious PCI problem monster so I knew that would be a likely culprit, especially on the Nuedo forums for PC guys, you can see loads of threads with similar issues.

I ditched the motu went with a Lynx and then followed up with my Scope card, all is well these days.

Glad it worked out for ya :wink:

A question, are you using XTC mode?

And I/O thru Lynx?

Hi again,

No the Lynx is in another PC, depending on how much I/O you need if you wanted to use the lynx you could do so via lightpipe.

Only reason I also have the lynx is 1) the converters are top notch and 2) the card is extremely reliable and stable, just a great performer.

Cheers!

UPDATE:

I have dissed the Motu 828mkII completely from this setup.

Scope + Pulsar II, 2x UAD-1's, TC Powercore FW.

Everything runs smooth atm.

I'm going to finish the PC soon, then I will do a realworld "stress test".

I'm running 38 audiotracks @ 44.1k 24 bits @ 4ms XTC mode, 60% of the 2 UAD-1's, etc atm.

Working without any glitches.
