My system has been woring perfectly until recently.

My problem is when I switch from the Cubase window to the Scope window the playback of thee track I am working on becomes very gittery and jumpy. Once I switch back to the Cubase window the timing is all over the place. I am not using excessive DSP power infact I am only a quater of the way up the scale.

I have tried upping the Ulli level and nothings seems to help.

It was fine until about a week ago and it's driving me mad.

Anyone else have/had this problem as it's really starting to get on my tits, so much so I have no interest in writing music because after 10 minutes it annoys me too much ...

My system for anyone if it helps is: -

XP Home in ACPI (HT turned off)
Asus P4C800 E Deluxe
P4 2.8GHz
512MB Ram
Pulsar II
Scope SRB
Matrox P650
Cubase SX 2

Have you changed anything on your setup recently?
Others may beg to differ, but I know for a fact Scope works better in Standard PC mode on my system (PIV, Intel D865PERL, Pulsar 2 + SRB, Cubase SX2).....I put a lot of effort into checking ACPI mode out recently, and got it 90% there but that just ain't good enough...WAVE based progs seemed to suffer in particular, and I'm sure timing in general wasn't as solid.

I thought it might be the ACPI / Standard PC thing.

Gonna just do a fresh reinstall and see if that helps.

Well I did the quick way of switching to Standard PC mode without reistalling everything and it seems to have solved the problem.

No glitches or anything.

Gonna do a proper re-install in Standard mode at the weekend.

hi, scott. i have the same mobo.
while i instaling SFP 3.1c (don't know for 4.0) i always disable HT in bios, then i enable HT after instalation.
with this mobo i use Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) PC rather than standard pc mode.
also, don't forget to disable system restore and to give priority to background services.

Cool...you might want to try this with your SRB too:

sandrob - do you have multiple boards? I'm wondering if ACPI is just not as good once you start using more DSPs ?

Well HT was turned off because everytime I? tred to record in soundforge / cool edit I kept egtting big crackles and pops which was solved once HT was turned off in the bios.

i have pulsar, uad and powercore.
pulsar have own irq, while uad and powercore share the same irq.

btw: i'm not computer axpert, so please corect me if i'm wrong.
i have 5 ways to instal xp including 2 diferent acpi modes. with this mode what i choose i have 16 irqs, same as in standard pc mode, but ht is enabled, so i have 2 (virtual) processors.

yes! i had the same problem and i reportet to cw about that. this happends in the one 'multyprocessors mode' (or something).
but if you update computer drivers to the Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) PC mode, you will solve this problem.
as i said, i use pulsar, uad and powercore (ht enabled) with no problem.

So Sandrob - you have ACPI mode with only 16 IRQs and that works better ?
What did you do - disable the APIC somehow ?

I just got terrified when I saw what was going on in my device manager. Firewire and graphic card are sharing IRQ with my luna card. Can it get any worse? What should I do to put luna card on its own irq.

Tnx in advance for any info!

Best regards, Igor

i had manny problems when i bought new machine specialy with pulsar, and after few days of trying and trying, i believe now this is the best setting for my configuration.

first i disable all what i don't need including usb, and onboard music in bios.

acpi in bios:
ACPI 2.0 support [no]
ACPI - APIC support [enabled]
Bios --> AML ACPI table [enabled]

after xp insatlation i just update computer's drivers.
HT is disabled during instalation of SFP 3.1c only, so i enable HT after instalation.

as i said i don't know much about computers, so any comment is welcome

That's weird coz I thought with the APIC enabled you get 24 IRQs

yes, it was weird to me too, but i don't thinking about that anymore, cos my daw working nice with this setting.

if i disable ACPI APIC support i have only 1 processor instead of 2 in a device manager. the same happends if i disable HT. weird too? :???:

i can instal xp in the another acpi mode and than i have 24 irqs, but with that setting i have some problems randomly.
only in acpi mode with 16irqs, my daw working without any compromise.
so, i recomend to Scott that setting, because we have the same mobo.
