The demo of this beta is a totally full version ... no time protection (mine was not so good and had preturbations ...)
but there will be only ... 8 mono channels and 2 stereo ... 1 stereo aux send ... 1 insert slot by channel (instead of 4) ...

look super cool, i'm downloading it right away
I just hope it use less dsp than STM2448
The dynamic PEQ is a really cool addition though...
<edit>
Man!!!
It's too BIG!!!
I can't use it!
Damn, it looked good... :|

If you searched the forum deeply you would find many people complaining large sizes of Scope devices. I'm not a developer but 3 factors are most important for a device: features, DSP load and the size. The last one is also important for you - you want to sell as many copies of the device as possible, don't you? There are many people who use 1024x768. I bet most of us are using this setting
Besides, please, write in the topic title it's a demo. Looking at the line in the Devices forum it looks like your device is for free.

Not really Samplaire ... if i can sell some that's ok but i did it originally for my works ...
I'm a sound ingeneer and not really a developper ...
The first goal of this mixer is to use it ... also for Live applications ...
In fact, i already use it daily !!!

Hello to all!
Sonolive, it seems that I am going to be the first one to review your device...
Ok, first of all... what marcus and samplaire told you already: make it 1024x768, because it is BIG as it is in that resolution. Most people work at 1024x768. I changed my screen's resolution to 1280x960 in order to try it more conveniently.
Secondly, there is no need for the Aux Busses page to be that big either! The useful things are just a small part of the window and the rest is a blue empty thing covering almost all my screen.
Thirdly, on the Main Strip, just a bit down from the left side corner there are some margin numbers floating in the air...
I think you should really consider redesigning/improving a little bit the GUI...
That is all graphic-wise. Let me now speak a bit about the practical use of it.
May I ask you if this mixer is supposed to be used as a single main mixer or as an additional mixer? If it is supposed to be used as an all-in-one mixer then there are a lot of features missing (comparing it to the STM mixers for example):
a) no channel inserts, b)absence of Low and High Pass Filters!, c) no option to turn channels into stereo or to link 2 channels for stereo use and many more less important...
Furthermore, there are some features that left me questionned... Why the Aux busses are not mixed to the Main Mix? It is good to have separate Aux outs but you should add as well the ability to mix the Aux Busses to the Main Mix. Again, the Solo function is very strange! Why to have the soloed signals appearing ONLY to the Solo Buss? This means that I should have the Control Room device connected to the Main Mix and to the Solo Buss and in order to hear a soloed instrument, to change channel in the Control Room (by openning and closing a lot of windows). It is simply not practical that way!
Now, the good things!
) I tried your device with some multi-tracked drum recordings I ve got. The Comp was VERY GOOD and the Gate was EXCELLENT! The Dynamic EQ (these are comparable to a kind of a "de-esser", right?), were VERY USEFUL and GOOD! But I would prefer an ON/OFF button for each EQ Module (instead of turning the threshold/gain back to zero and loosing the value that it was using before).
I didnt try the "midification" function, so I cannot speak about it.
In conclusion, I think there still is place for improvement but your device is CERTAINLY PROMISING! In addition, I think it SOUNDS GOOD too.
Keep up the good work!

I found one thing and I don't know (yet) what it means: I had a little time to try the device and besides the gui things mentioned by Rodos (I can't change the resolution beyond 1024x768) I found one audio bug (?). I just positioned the mixer between my sequencer (Logic) and phisical audio outs. At first only one mono channel to stereo outand I've heard some audio dropouts in my monitors. The dropouts were different in both channels. They were almost the same time but not exactly (something like 20ms of delay - have to investigate it and send you the sound example). I've heard such dropouts for the first time in my system so I assume it's the mixer to cause it. This evening I'm going to prepare you a sound example and send it to you.
My system is Mac G4/800, 1Gig of ram, Pulsar1, Pulsar1 SRB and Luna2, Logic Audio 6
Cheers,
Wojtek

DSP Consumption of this Plug:
To load the device, a Luna should be enough... but to really start using the device to a good standard, i.e to turn on EQs and compressors, at least a Pulsar (6DSP) is needed.
The ideal is to have a Power Pulsar/ Scope (15 or 14 DSPs).
I tested it on one of my machines which has a pulsar and Luna, and I just managed to turn everything on (comp/ gates/ eq) without using the Auxs.
On my principal machine, with 2 Scopes (30 DSP), which is like a thunder, I can even open additional master verbs pro and almost anything else/all that I may want...
Small trick: the AUXs ARE STEREO... which means that openning one buss is like openning two mono ones (in terms of DSP consumption)!!! So, Be carefull!!!
The comp and gates are far from greedy, with eq being a bit more...
If you have two or three CW cards...
Attention, you may encounter messages of "capacity limit reached" which could occur just by wiring the dev... If your DSP usage is not "in the red", you can ignore them by clicking "Cancel".
This is due to the fact (same happens with any large CW module) that SFP needs some time to divide a plug on several CW HARDWARE.
After some moments, all turns again back to normal and one can use the plug at ease...
The same applies for 96Khz...
a+++ olive
The limitation of the demo is approximately fifteen minutes. If you insist a little, I ll prepare one lasting two hours (on request by PM).
Attention, this plug is entirely midifiable... with a Doepfer pocket... you understand...
I am preparing a user manual... for the device (that should be really straight-forward to those who know about mixers in general) and for the midification...
I am very impatient to have your opinions.

They are more often to appear (every 10 seconds?) but perhaps it is what you say. Have to try it at home, in the evening. Anyway I'll send you the sound example to figure out the symptom. On 2004-05-27 04:07, sonolive wrote:
Ok Samplaire, i think i know what it is ... are the dropouts regular ? each 2 minutes ?
