Hi everyone

I am just about to upgrade my DAW to:
Genuine Intel 875p
Pentium 4 3.2eGHz
1Gb DDR400 double sided ram
FSP-60fn 400w PSU
WInXPpro
no internet/network
SFP4
cubase SX2

What I am wondering about is this raid array stuff.
I intend to just reformat the first partition 'C' on my first hard drice (it is partitioned into 3). Then install XPpro and not bother withe raid array at all.
but, the 'intel application accelerator' is now raid array only for the 875p. I have the Intel application accelerator installed on my intel 815 and the hard drives certainly benefit from this. I would like to have my new DAW set up the same as my current system (and get maximum performance) but am a bit confused by Raid and the new raid only application accelerator. Is there anyone who can help me with afew pointers. I would be most grateful.

you don't need the application accelerator anymore, except with raid.

thank you. Do I just enable DMA bus mastering in the Device setup window for the hard drives then?. or don't I have to do anything at all.

if you install the inf chipset utility, dma should be automatic. check the device manager to be sure.

thanks garyb. I will follow your advice.
I am also going to install winXp in ACPI mode and not standard PC mode......I am really hoping that this is going to be as stable as my Intel 815 and P3 1GHz!

How many PCI cards do you have? I had to switch to standard mode because of IRQ conflicts which windows would not let me change under ACPI mode.

I am only installing 1 Luna 2 card and 1 graphics card. The luna is going into slot 2 as this is not sharing on the 875p board apparently.
