The Steiny charges appear to be different depending which country you live in....
I didn't join in on the CWA 'charging' thread but do think that it can be justified, but needs to be part of an overall 'support culture'
Have you tried SX2.2 yet? I will probably do it next week.

I only have a Nuendo 1.x license. I got it from my last employer's Japanese distributor so I have no idea how to go about attempting to upgrade that. Plus I use Logic PC still (gasp

).

Good luck with it though. I have seen a few things over at Cubase.net lately which talk about a studio interconnect layer that Steinberg is going to add (or has already added?) that will allow better hardware controller support as well as support for software control applications. That has me somewhat interested as I love sounddiver and wouldn't mind an alternative if I decide to go SX2 at some point.

i;ve installed the update for cubase. i have version sx 2.20 now. it's quite a good update

there are 2 new synths, monologue sounds very good. Embrace is a sample based pad machine. good but nothing special.

as a bonus there is a new filter included named tonic. This one is very good considering that it's free. it has al the cutoff modes and a stepsequencer and even a x-y pad for changing parameters.

I've tested it for a couple of hours now in xtc mode and everything works flawlessly over here. So i'm happy

Can anyone upgrade to SX 2.2?

I mean, even someone who hasnt actually bought it?
I have a friends cousins brothers nephew from far away who, rumors has it, installed a hacked version of Cubase SX. Would he (the thieving bastard he is) also be able to upgrade?

no sidechain support, but with the multi fx XTC trick all creamware compressors support sidechaining in cubase sx. so creamware owners do not need that support from cubase itself.

if you do want to user sidechaining without using creamware products you may have a look at the direct x dbaudioware compressors. they have a send and receive possibility which supports sidechaining. The result however is not even close to sidechaining using creamware compressors in xtc mode

A friend of mine build his own sidechainer Vst plug... You can download it here since it's free. Do tell him what you think of it.
We are currently creating a SDK-VST modulair system as in modular classes in C++.
