Okay I have been thinking about this and I have a couple things to say.
Simply praising CW (and there are a lot of good things to say) does not help CW at all. The only way CW can improve is if they know what is wrong. People should not take at as a personal asault. I fail to see why they do.
at0mic:
Yes the 50% deal is generous but I can't get it because I am not able to get my new registration keys. Someone suggested I should email Creamware which I did a week ago and with no reply. It's bad when you want to give them money and they won't take it. I can't get my key, it says the page does not exist. I can not get an explaination of this or another way to register.
This is like the war on Iraq... POORLY EXECUTED! My 2 cents.
Ralf@CWA in some earlier post said that you can email him directly to take care of registration problem if not answered quickly.
rb@creamware.de and tell what your SN and he will fix it for you.
I am sure they will be glad to take your money even if it is 50%
I found that the page that generate those emails has a bug in the get scope 4.0 generate scope and sometimes it does not work from the first time. so I go back one page and redo it again and it worked on all 3 cards.
maybe you should try it again.
Also users should go back and check their ALL key file (open it with note pad) and see if 4.0 key is listed.
I guess that when somebody expresses something, whatever it may be, the important thing is to express it without being frontal, without getting into harsh discussion. Harsh struggles of words mean to nowhere… you may disagree with me, ok, but in forums and in real life, when people start fighting with words nothing good comes along, because it they are defending a “position” but not what they say. What they say suddenly changes to something else, what demonstrates that these kinds of fights are much more a matter of “EGO” than real statements.
I think everybody has the right in an open forum, to say what they think but in no way, using violent language, insults, calling people names or spreading rush and degrading phrases.
As in the past, when this forum just started by 1999, the new comers where complaining all the time, because THEY DIDN’T KNOW HOW TO CONFIGURE THEIR SYSTEMS. I guess this has and still IS the main reason why so many complain.
I remember somebody who lately was very frustrated, he couldn’t make his system work, it was a complete hell, but he didn’t want to study, read and get into the system to learn HOW to configure it by himself, he instead did it through other people, but he realised that the boards themselves were not the problem, but his inability to configure his system. That would be nice if those angry people would just reconsider their lack of knowledge, and would let some of the experts of this forum (I am not one of them) to help them configure their systems instead of complaining all the time.
For instance, there have been a couple of people angry cos they couldn’t plug their headphone to their system directly, they never understood you need a mixer or some sort of device from the outputs of your board, to plug a jack. Some others complained all the time about clicks and pops but they had never gong thought the manual to do the tips and tricks.
I think everybody has the right to complain as long as there is a REASON for it, but if you don’t know how to configure your system and you spread all around your frustration, this is for sure out of place.
It is curious in the other hand that when somebody gets really heavy complaining every day about the same thing, it always coincides with somebody who knows very little about his own system.
I’ve made this statement one million times, but I will repeat it again:
If a board works WELL in a few systems, the problem is not the board, but your system and its configuration.

I must agree with that entirely. Being objective about erros and problems, makes them desapear faster, and of course this is one of the most important services that Planet Z can render to CWA, cos reporting bugs and bezzare software behaviours is an objective help.
Nevertheless, I also agree with Inmmanuel about not needing to spread it all arround the place, nore using bad language to talk about it.

Gary you do it again and again. I write a thousand words, and then you put it so much better than me in just one line.
I've noticed it, too!
This reminds me a discussion my friend lead with a computer guy about a forgotten bios password - the guy on the other side of the phone line explained how to do it 15mins and at the end my friend asked if it wouldn't have been faster if he had taken of the battery for a moment....
As long as people stay ontopic and dont flood or spam the board with useless info I dont see a problem.
As there are quite some diehard pro CW fans here, there also are people with other opinions. Banning any of these 2 would be a bad move imo.
There are some basic forumrules that should be followed. Banning people/removing posts because they dont match your own opinion is a bad move imo. Better try to convince them they are wrong.
Furthermore I find it amazing that some people can see my CW history by the number of posts I made here at PZ.
This is a verry nice place and it provides the so much needed support CW often isnt able to provide. I'm reading it for a long time now and found it verry usefull. But banning people simply because they have another opinion isnt the way to go imo.

you're right Terrence, the number of posts of someone never can be a reason for accusing blindly.
I gues some of us took that characteristic of some just flaming and even trolling new members shortly because it's obvious and easy to take.
I can imagine that referring to that number of posts feels very wrong to the well respected ones who just don't post so much.
I'm sure that is not intended, at least not from my side

I don't think the issue was difference of opinion (although some may want it so seem so). I think its a matter of tone of conversation.
Using John's analogy of a 'shared living room' imagine sitting around and discussing things to learn or even express a view. A few in the corner being dramatic to express their views, the occasional outbreak of laughter etc.
Then suddenly the tone is one of people shouting at each other and Creamware in anger and being just outright belligerant to make their point.
I found PlanetZ shortly after it started through a friend of mine who no longer produces (he was doing hardcore). I joined a month or so after lurking and I've been here a few years now. If I were to politely paint a picture of the community here the above paragraphs work quite well. Hopefully it is just a passing phase in the growth of what has been a great community for a lot of us.

I hope you do not read my post that way. If so, there has been a case of bad communication.
Information for new readers: A forum member named Braincell is known for spreading lies and malicious information without even knowing the basics of, what he is talking about. If noone responds to him, it is because he is ignored.
You got it valis
It is about tone - not about disagreing.
Also you story about the person suddenly standing up shouting is quite presice.

I say, let PlanetZ become a place for constructive thinking again - not a place for aggressively discussing pro<->con CWA's bussiness policy.
Let me hear your voice.
Immanuel
you're right Immanuel.
let PlanetZ become a place for constructive thinking again...
