Hi everyone

I have narrowed down my choice of lap top to either an Alienware Or Asus (centrino models). So my question, is there much difference between a 14" screen and a 15 "? I like Alienware design, but they only have 14 " screens , whereas ASUS has 15" . Does having that extra inch make a difference (the actress said to the bishop. Or should that be the bishop said to the actress?)?
Is it nice having that extra inch or can I do without? Plus Alienware can only be bought via internet, so is that a problem? What happens if you have a dud machine?
Plus one more question. How significant a difference is there between Centrino and Standard lap tops. OK , I know about battery life. Is There anything else? In terms of performance how does say a 1.6 Centrino compare to a Standard Processor . Is it comparable to a 2,6GHZ for example?

Thanks in advance for your response(s)

my wife has a 15" ibook, and I think the size is great. It allows the notebook to be just within portable limits. (in contrast, my 17" panorama powerbook is near immobile) 15" seems just barely enough for most uses. I'd be worried if it's 14". So in that sense, the 15" one seems better.

Only to the untrained eye tho. *grin*

LOOKS DO MATTER. You already have a desktop to work with, so you wont' be looking at your notebook's screen for hours after hours. Taking into account a notebooks portability, you'd probably use it for live gigs or to show off your tune over at a friend's? OF COURSE you'd want to go for the one with funkier looks. You're gonna look at your notebook and think everytime, "man, do I have a funky lookin' sunovabitch", and grin. It'll make you want to carry your notebook wherever you go. It becomes a fashion item. Remember that cool cap you always wore in middleschool?

Okay, bad persuasive advices aside  , here you have it. Both my viewpoints.

hey, I made a mistake. My wife's ibook was indeed 12". So, 12" is just about as small as you can go. 14, or 15 should be just right.

Performance of Centrino is better. So pro Centrino not only battery life and temperature. 14' is ok, have a look at resolution, is it 1400x1050?, then perfect.
