so what happened to the contest? It sure is taking a while...
Question to any CW people reading this..
Do you need more? Do you have too much? Are people busy doing something else? (which is understandable)
Any update would make things a bit more exciting. Since a month has passed since the deadline, I'm not as busy, and so I may be able to post another demo or two.

ok, that might be true, but we've spent time on making demos and all we can do now is wait till someone from creamware 'find some time' to tell us what the status is from this contest.
It reminds me of how things were in the past with creamware. Big plans and good ideas which all died for whatever reason.

I am not aware of any reason to disbelieve fortune's postings. He's taken the time to report back to this forum regarding the quantity and quality of the demos. That must have already taken up a lot of his/CW's time just to listen to demos which CW can't useQuifster wrote:

Correct. What else do you think you can do at this juncture? Which demos are used, the selection process involved and the effort & time required to do this are all Creamware's responsibility!but we've spent time on making demos and all we can do now is wait till someone from creamware 'find some time' to tell us what the status is from this contest.
What's wrong with being grateful for their generous offer and demonstrating a little patience in the meantime?
Good things come to those who wait...
Royston
p.s. patience is a virtue, doncha know

Agree
I'd like to add: if these demo's (some of them consisting of huge preset playing) are that important to the makers, something is wrong with their music life.
I can be nice to make some, but after sending them to CWA I would almost forget about them, being surprised to hear again about them after some time.
Comon guys, don't you have nothing real stuff to do??

i really don't understand what you mean by such a remark. Why is it that wrong to ask about the status of a contest i've joined? On 2004-04-15 15:46, hubird wrote:

I've put a lot of effort in the demo i sent in. I don't think it's strange to expect at least some communication about the status from creamware's site.
Hi Quifster, nothing personally, but...you and others were not 'just asking' that...On 2004-04-16 07:05, Quifster wrote:Why is it that wrong to ask about the status of a contest i've joined?
Many arguments for just waiting are given already in this thread, I'm not gonne repeat them.
I just added one from my heart:
some seem to feel their life is depending from some demo's they made...
I'd say, start making a song, and let the CWA folks do the job, they work 16 hours a day that's for sure

Motto: it's ready when it's ready

happy music making, cheerz!

I finally managed to do a demo track (a bit late) and it was loads of fun. I downloaded the demo version of the Pro One and did a demo for that - mainly because I used to own a Pro One and thought it would be fun.
Be jiggered if the CWA version didn't sound *better* than the original. Really superb sound - I was very impressed.
I remember this happened last time I'd spent too long fiddling with VSTi devices - a lovely surprise when I came back to Scope devices.
I might even have to buy the Pro One if I don't win !
PS: But those sneaky cads at CWA changed the demo functionality since last time I downloaded - it used to be that the device was still useable after the hour if you didn't shut anything down. Now the device is frozen and you can't even twiddle a knob !
CWA demo limitations really are woefully pathetic by industry standards.

check this out, I did a demo for bluesynth. lol
An interesting attempt to try to make is sound like a strings quintet. The result is kind of interesting. Not really strings, it sounds like strings, but it's interestingly fake.

at least a proof they read this forum and act if 'appropriate'...On 2004-04-16 14:37, Spirit wrote:

Now that SP 4.0's out, I'm rather curious to know when the SDK and the sound demos will be announced...probably some time after all the server issues are ironed out and the massive support calls die down.

thanx for the feedback, although I still haven't heard anything from CW after I submitted it. I'd really like to redo the strings quintet demo with Steven Hummel's bluesynth since it allows bandpass filters. (just a lowpass is quite limiting)
The last series of high notes on the lead violin sounds particularly nice.
