Recording (Analog IN) problems in XTC mode...

Hi, I have some troubles recording my Guitar in XTC mode, or any other devices. In XTCproject.pro the analog input is connected to Asio 3/4 and anolog output (just for monitoring). In Cubase SX there are two input, one for the mixdown, and second one for the analog input. I've done a realod in Asio setting too... the Cubase In Led Track seems working, but when I record there's nothing in my audio track

What I'm wrong? Any advices?

I forget to select the right input from Cubase (Anlog in)... ehm...

... now it's ok!

On a related note, I'm considering getting a Pulsar II for use with Cubase SX 2 primarily as a guitar effects unit & general recording card.

I am under the impression it would be more cost effective & flexible to use the XTC effects while live recording the guitar than buying a dedicated FX box (like the old Digitech Valve-FX I want to upgrade from). Does anyone have any advice or comments about doing this?

Being able to get reasonably good (as in, much better than the Valve-FX) guitar effects in real time while recording in SX is important to me, and if it can't do that I will probably just wind up getting a Luna II mostly for recording and not so much the effects since I'd wind up getting a dedicated FX rackmount or possibly one of the Digitech GNX based units or the Amplitube plugin.

Being able to have guitar FX while live recording is critical, and I'm really hoping to get a setup that will allow me to tweak them after it's been recorded. Pulsar seems like it might be able to do it, but I'm just not sure.

Thanks for any advice, I've been waffling for about 6 months being unable to decide.

In my opinion, I think guitar needs a pre.
Plugs are ok but after recording, if you want give some plus, like delay, stereo chorus, wah wah (sync with the bpm). I have a DG Stomp, and for me it's ok. A Pre amp give some presence that guitar need, and bass guitar too...

You need to match guitar out electrically with analog inputs, that's the reason you need at least a D.I. box.
Then you can have some very cool and interesting processing of your guitar in SFP, with all the no-latency benefits, with the add on that you could monitor your guitar fully effected while recording it clean, and apply that processing on the recorded track, so you can change it if you change idea, arrangement or you want to double it with different sounds...This is one of the best reasons for using such a dsp card!

You can also synthetize your guitar track with the flexor Pitch to CV in the modular, use vocoder....it's a real paradise for guitar IMO.

I did most of my guitarwork through VAmp (and a Zoom earlier), with the setup (effects) of choice, but lately i recorded guitar clean (through a JoeMeek pre) and added effects later (a new take).
No i have the "clean" take in spar.

(lol - very usefull when i have to edit my plying, due to lack of skill)

Favorit for easter is spacef's echo2 together with celmo's Bluesguitar

After doing a bunch of googling around for information I think I'm starting to understand.

I am considering getting a behringer v-amp pro to give me a little bit of flexibility/fun when my PC is otherwise occupied and it would let me use the AES/EBU connections to a pulsar II plus; does this seem like a good way to go to anyone? I know the v-amp isn't the best unit out there, but it's within my budget and I'm hoping it could serve as a nice A/D unit that I could keep away from the electrically noisy area near my PC. If I had the bucks I'd probably consider the line6 pod xt pro for this because it has AES/EBU input as well as output and can be used as a (in theory) purely digital effects channel later, which might be handy.. Thoughts?

The adrenalinn looks pretty neat. For the $400 I'd be inclined to save up for something else though.. I am starting to think I might just plunk down for the pod xt pro (to get me by in style and at least get some tracks into the PC) then wait a month or two for the CW guys to get their new product lines out in the market and grab one then after any bugs that might pop up with 4.0 are fixed.

I've been sort of out of the music loop for a while now, it'd probably be healthy to just focus on the guitar for a bit anyways or I might risk getting permanently stuck in window/plugin tweaking mode instead of making music.
