Hello Im running Luna2 in xtc mode and use Cubase SX2. My problem is that I dont know how to compensate the sound from my external synth so that it get synced with with cubase during realtime playback. If I record the synth it compensates perfectly but during my realtime sequencing I hear the "asio delay" which is very irretating. Surely there must be some way to "hear what I get" before recording! But how? Direct monitoring is a solution. Althoug a bad one cause I havent been able to use vst effects on he audio in channel while using direct monitor. Please help me

SX, devices/device setup/VST multitrack/controlpanel (see latency times here) and appears a new window, check ulli/asio and set it as(for instance) asio2 sync and 6ms for ulli and say yes. This last step must be made EVERYTIME after opening SX (set preferences for start up "do nothing") and better before opening any SX project.
I also get better with asio2 dest-64 drive in XTCproject.

Now I hope you can live with about 5ms of latency (if not several FXs in the input bus or rec+monitoring channel).

6 ms.. well I can live with that, but I believe it can be noticed at some very intense sequencing. Besides it would be so easy for steinberg to put in a delay compensator that I thought that they perhaps already done it. But wont I also loose lots of processing power at 6 ms? I mean there is a reason to why people choose higher latency right?. Bah, I'll survive, but still it's irretating cause it's such an easy issue to solve. Recording compensation? Yes. But playback compensation? No.. it doesnt make sense.. does it?

what about the "constrain delay compensation" button in the top left corner?
the button looks like a clock.

i'm no SX2 user myself but my friend suggested this.
the button is supposed to turn off all high latency plugs.

Alfa, I cannot agree with you, it doesn't seem so easy and compensation depends on the plugins you get in use, it's not SX fault, but... maybe I'm wrong 'cos I know very few.

Check plugin information and run the update and then see if latency times are better, you may/shall also check latency as long as you insert (more) effects.
Here I can play with till 6 XTC FXs inserted in MultiFX M/S without any latency increase.

Siberian, you're right (the friend), but it's the opposite of what alfa pretends.

It's my external nord modular synth that gets unsynced with cubase (probably the 6-34 ms asio delay). I can compensate this with by moving the notes a few pixels to the left. I dont use any XTC plugins... its really a cubase issue so I probably shouldnt have posted my question here.

Siberian, "constrain delay compensation"? In what menu can I find that?

Hi
Using an external mixer would be the easy way....

in the main track/arrange window, the first one you load.
