I love the playing of Jon Hassell.

Does anyone know what effect settings he uses? I know he uses a harmonizer with several pitches, also while we are on the subject. What scales does he use? Does he use microtones?

I have a Yamaha WX5. It seems like it would be good for playing in that style.

with respect, but I wouldn't choose for this approach, that is to say I would try to copy his harmonized sound as good as possible indeed by using my ears, and then take the result as my way of interpreting his style.
This is better for you as musicion as it is for the sake of historical dynamics in music devellopment

I would start with this and modify it. He spent a lot of time reaching his sound.

I think that he changes settings related to the particular track's harmonical needs...

try to start adding 5th's or 6ths or 4ths, and notice the total different feels you get. You will have to use also different modes with the different settings. Adding 5ths is the most flexible.

Adding 3ds can bring you in a very strongly defined atmosphere related to the major or minor nature of them, but very interesting too...

Thanks Alfonso,

I didn't realize he has more than one setting. I'll try your suggestion. I had a ticket to see and hear him many years ago but he was sick that day.
