I wonder if any of you guys have tried aopen's tube motherboards.
Are they still available in UK because I can't find a site that sells them.
Thanks

that tube will not make the music any better,it's used for the onboard sound(unless you don't want this mobo for use with sfp).a cheap tube circuit sounds no better than a cheap solid state circuit(both sound cheap)and aopen is not known for stellar mobos(although the reviewer liked this one).again i ask,"why?".

Yep, this one totally perplexed me from the moment I saw the announcement (quite a while ago).. apart from anything else, why did they not make a *soundcard* and not a motherboard with a tube circuit built onto it?

Also, do they not realise that any self-respecting audiophile is going to have a digital out -> good DAC -> decent tube amp anyway??

Think about the physical arrangement inside the computer - having a PCI card with a tube on it...well, you wouldn't be able to fit any more cards!

(Unless they can make really small/short tubes nowadays?)

There might also be an issue with available voltages (?)

From what I read in the somewhat ridiculous review above, the presence of the tube leads to only having room for 3 PCI slots anyway!

When I first read about this mobo (2 years ago--the first version?) my initial thought was that any one of my manager at my old job would probably have bought this for in-office 'bragging rights'.
