Hello mates! I am going to buy Cubase SX 2.0 And I use Pulsar II, mostly XTC mode. Some of You write that there is no latency, when using XTC instruments & effects, at all. Is it really true? And what about mixdown? Is it already possible to do mixdown when using XTC instruments or effects? I know it was possible before, but it sounded terrible. And now?
Thank You!
Thank You!

It's not really true the ' no latency'... There is allways latency, induced ny asio driver, first and some plugins 2nd... But all this latency is compensated for, so at the final, all track are still aligned with samples accuracy. that's great.
And for mixdown, there is an options when you export audio, to export realtime. You HAVE to select this. As plugin on DSP can't go faster than realtime. And everything will be fine in the exported file. I use it, and it work.

Thank You Marcuspocus!
Ok, it is clear about mixdown now.
But about latency... What do You mean: "all tracks are aligned with samples accuracy in final mix? Ok, lets say: there are two audio tracks in the Cubase. One of them has XTC plug-ins (delay, reverb, compressor) on and another is without plug-ins. Will these tracks begin at the same time? I used Cubase SX 1.6 and I was not able to use XTC plug-ins in the real time, because of latency.
Thank You again!

it's simple. if you want to use XTC mode within cubase, you need Cubase SX 2.01. This one is fully suited for the job.
i use it all the time now. In earlier versions of Cubase (Sx) the xtc mode was not usable according to my opinions.
Furthermore a big advantage in SX 2.01 is the bus routing that is now possible in this version. also the fx handling is improved enormously and you can route all your fx chains in any way you want. This gives great possibilities in a very creative way
In the music section you can hear my latest song exported realtime in cubase sx 2.01 with full pdc where i make use of vst instruments, creamware synths, and external hardware synths. They are all rendered realtime through the file - audio export menu.

Thank You Quifster!
That's great!!! It's so hard to wait till I get Cubase SX 2.1, now:)
The song, You made, is spectacular!!! I will listen to it later carefully and, I think, I will have some more questions:)
Could we contact through e-mail? It would be easier to communicate:) My e-mail is: zilvikas@centras.lt (or You can write Yours).
Sincerely,
Zilvikas

Does it works also with Cubase SL 2.0 ?if you want to use XTC mode within cubase, you need Cubase SX 2.01
I am using Pulsar II with Cubase SL 1.0 now and I would like to export project into one file without recording it at real-time thru "L Merge".
In the XTC of Pulsar I found the plugin XTC Delay S. This is a plugin for audio buffer compensation. But how to use it in Cubase SL and make rendering to audio file ?
Unless it is for another purposes.

Hi Rafals,
I don't know about Cubase SL. Now I use Cubase SX 2.01 and it works perfect. When I use XTC plug-ins or synths I make a real time mixdown. I don't know if it is in SL version, but in SX You can choose it from export audio menu.
In fact, I use real time rendering all the time. I have mentioned that even some other VST plug-ins or synths require real time.
Sincerely,
Bracelet Z

Thanx for your answer Bracelet Z
I've asked about it because I'm thinking about upgrading my SL 1.06 to 2.0 I compared these versions on Steinberg info and SL and SX should have the same options in Export menu.
In mean-time I was at my friend who also have Creamware audio card but he works on Nuendo so I could see how does it works.
We did a few tests. Unfortunatelly I was surprised that Real-Time export or mixdown (with this special real-time switch) is the same operation like recording material thru "L Merge" loopback.
Here's a description of operation.
Let's say that we have some virtual instruments VSTi with XTC effects in insert and master. The most of VSTi synth have the quality settings. So typically I use draft(normal) quality settings for monitoring but before I will export project to final wave file I swich all synths to high possible quality (ex. HQ rendering). It is normal that the cpu is completely overhead to play it real-time and the same making real-time export will be impossible
Is there any solution for this ?
Thank you for your help.
