More compression and saturation (may be too much compression).

I took a close look to PSP Mixpressor and PSP Tape Saturator which I used already in the former mix.
Thanks Paulrmartin, you brought me to it

I thought it could be interesting to upload the 'saturated' mix in a new thread, to have comparision.

I was quite happy with the result, tho I hope it's not coz I'm to deep into it now.
Anyway, in the lows it's much better now I guess, the sound itself is more close to the groove style, rounder, things like that.
The song gets more of it's own world or something.
If you think it's not worth the effort, you learnt also something

Have a look if you like.

edit: you have to compensate for the much higher compression level in the saturated mix.
I tried to get out the max of both (without 'musical' losses).
Both fx's are close to eachother in funktioning, but the improvement of the lows and atmosphere is mainly due to the Tape Saturator.

This has worked hasn´t it? The track lost a little of the digital purity it has got before.

That´s why I like to use the true tape of cubase for my external or Pulsar synths.
Gratulations for a nice track.

Love the sound, it's great and very warm. The only thing I didn't like is the timings of the trumpet, but this is perhaps my perception only, but it seems to be cutting itself sometimes, so I lose the impression of a real instrument. I love the sound...

I don't know about your trick, but it worked.

You're right, I added a couple of 2 extra trumpet notes in the mailn riff now and then, to keep the attention.
I'm also doubting about the musical result, may be I'm gonne change that.
Yhe mastering brought that up, those fillies got to loud.

edit: it could be you're not talking about the extra notes, but rather the 'hanging trumpet note'.
Then I say, I'll keep that, indeed you get away from the trumpet player.
To me it has to be, it's supposed to get you deeper into the song, and after that a new trumpet riff takes it easy over again, followed by the break.
It where the double notes I guess, thanks anyway

I think Nestor wanted to say the trumpet is a bit too early (10ms?) in the mix.

In my opinion...the best track i've heard on planet Z.

Reminds me of the 'ingredients' compilations from Cooking records.

The mix sounds good, the timings dont bother me...i wouldnt fault this track in any way...

About the sound: the CW SPL Transient Designer plug did a good job, pronouncing the attacks of most ridm parts and specially the rhythmic Mercury solo synth in the long break part, while weakening the attacks of the fill-in musical samples.

This promotes the frontal-ness and the deepness of the mix.

Also important: skip every (I mean every!) note possible on every (I mean every!) second of the song
