try my "supersaws" presets on my "sparC" synth, with a few notes of polyphony for the unison to take effect. six detunable saws with unison!

Minimax running into the Vinco, then into the Big Multitap from EarlyFirst sounds pretty fat. That with some editing can make some really nice riffs.

I posted an FM version of the above patch. Pretty close to the real thing if you ask me. Definitely worth a try.

<<< here is a patch i just quickly made with the sparC and a delay played directly into Wavelab. this isn't at all close enough? if you want it to bite even more you could simply apply a little EQ.

Cheers,

Stephen

haven't had time to check out the final flexor patches yet. I'm sure I will once I get some time. Either way, I'm pretty sure that using a bunch of detunes saws isn't enough to model the roland supersaw. They've got some strange trick up their sleeves I'm sure.

Neutron made a couple of screemers. I would also, oddly enough, recommend using the Inferno. Though it sounds cheezy just hitting notes, if you have some knobs and can keep the sound in motion (i.e. keep moving the knobs so as to keep the sound changing up, it is quite a little beast. And it already comes with SFP.

Otherwise, I'd back Stephan and say that the SparC is ripping (saving my pennies) or one of the iterations of the Plastic synth. Those wail too.

there is type of 'zing' to the latest trance traks... trying to come up with it is not an easy job.

Any uncharted ideas (or ideas whose influences are sufficiently buried) have a zing to it. Therefore, I would think it to be dangerous to try to recreate it as you are by definition setting an expiration date on your window for success with what you are still trying to wrap your gear around.

You are always better off producing work that is heartfelt (even if violent and aggresive) and self-resonant and it will zing every time you play it for yourself and others.

The best part is that you can start today, building songs, not worrying about whether or not it has that 'zing' that you were looking for. I always prefer that not so fresh feeling over established zing.

My $.02

Also, one last thing... a lot of that zing comes out during the mastering process. Write the songs, play with tones once you've got something to tinker with.

Jesus man that sound has been so fucking over-used I can't possibly understand why people still want it so badly. Ugh! Now go and be original and creative instead of yet another copycat.

Oh, and fuck cheesy trance!!!

oioi, you could upload a sample from one of your mentioned sources (take a nonrecognisable short sample) here on planetz.
I'm sure you get great help with a reconstruction on one or another synth, or the name of the precise synth used.
Just give us a second or two
