Hello All,

Some of you have been very kind in trying to help me with the problems I have had with my new PC set-up. I just couldn't get things going. Well I have finally figured out the problem and I don't know why I hadn't thought of it earlier. It wasn't the PC that was the problem but the Pulsar card itself.
I have 3 cards installed and I just assumed they all functioned. As it turned out My "master" card was where I had my external stuff connected (keyboard, MIDI interface, speakers etc..). I thought that instead of connecting everything through that card via the breakout cable, I would try the other cards and lo and behold everything worked as it should. So the MIDI and audio in/outs of my "master" card turned out to be faulty. Which is such a great "relief" to know I have pin pointed the problem.
However the problem remains that I have a faulty Pulsar card. I still have 16 DSPs. So do I tolerate the problem and continue working like this or do I get it repaired and wait maybe a month or more? Has anyone ever had to return a card and if so how long did it take to get repaired?
One more thing. Within Logic I still get this message:

"While trying to open MIDIport "CreamwareIn/Out1" in function "midilnOpen", the error, "there is no driver installed in your system occured" Make sure that the midi interface is connected and switched on". I also get the same message with Creamware In/Out 2. Apparently I can avoid this message by doing something in Device manager and Settings but I can't remember what it was anymore. Does anyone know? It has something to do with how many midi ports I have assigned.

nice to read you're getting on, though a 'congrats' doesn't seem appropriate in this case :smile:
Is the faulty card the one you have devices registered on ? Then it would of course be a major annoyance to have that in repair.

I just vaguely remember someone once mentioned problems with a card which had some bad solder connections where the cable whip is connected.
It could be that a short circuit on the IO connectors may disable a part of the board, but not the whole thing. I guess it was about the S/PDIF port, but I might as well be wrong.
Anyway a small spot of solder had hit 2 pins of the connector. You may check this, but further examinations are not recommended :grin:

otherwise,get this fixed under warranty asap.it's much more hassle and wait to have to get it fixed in the middle of a project and for cost....

Werdo, I'm sorry for this... You had gone through a real difficult time lately. Bloody hell... Well, nothing bad lasts too long, fortunately.

This is why I wanted for you to go through all the hardware before going through the software.

I will still advice you the same things, cos they are giving me very good results: get to know what to do by yourself, it is difficult at the beginning, but then it is so much better... You'll do everything yourself and you'll do it bettern than anybody in the world, cos your going to take special care of your system. I truly am for doing things oneself.

Well, said that, I would stil go back doing a fresh instaltion, I have heard many problems of people going from ACPI to Stardard PC, and it is recomended for you to seup up everything from zero. This is my point of view. Of course, if your system is now stable, after you have found the reason was a Pulsar Card, well, that would be great...

Answering to your question:
It is very rare to find a falty Pulsar Card, I have heard of 6 with yours, in 6 years, and I'm very related to the Creamware world, this is minimal if you think there are tens of thousands of them out there.

If you were to go back, doing all the installation again, I would be very pleased to post you a complete guide step by step, as clear as my times gives me the opportunity to do it. Just tell me if you need it.

If you have important plug-ins registered to the card, you could try to get them transfered to another card while the faulty one gets repaired.
