Firubbi, yes I have done a clean install.

GaryB, perhaps a hub might be a solution, but the fact that I possibly have faulty USB ports isn't a satisfactory situation. Do I tolerate this problem and get a USB hub or demand another motherboard? What would you do? Does the fact that when I plug in my Logic key the "found new hardware" message doesn't appear on all the USB ports suggest there is something wrong in that department?
By the way, I read in a magazine called PC Format September issue a review about the ASUS P4P 800 Deluxe. They were not impressed. They said it was extremely unstable and prone to crashes. On the other hand I have also read positive reviews. So what does this all mean?

Regards

bios settings might be the problem, some mobos only have all usb ports working with 1.0 or 2.0(in the past.i kinda doubt that thats whats happening now...)if you don't find and obvious cause,i would try a new board.there are a lot of people who have had good luck with that board,as to the reviews,it appears that that board is like the little girl who had a little curl, right in the middle of her forehead.when she was good, she was very, very good, but when she was bad,she was horrid.if you want to try something else, intel boards are always stable.i'm sure you'll get it going.

Hello again,

How can I be 100% sure that my USB ports could be faulty? Is there any way of testing? Because should I need to return my board I would like to go back to the shop who built my PC with a valid reason. Or how can I know for sure that my motherboard could be faulty?
What would be a good alternative Motherboard?

Thanks
