Jupiter please post exactly what equipment and software you are using when you do. I'm very interested in this if it works well as an alternative to the Cubase system of linking computers.
My stationary comp. is an
Asus P4B533-V, PIV 2.4 running Windows XP.
The other wil be a laptop of some kind. Not sure which one yet.
But i'll let you know.
I tried it. Setting it up was easy because I already knew how to open the port in my router. It did recognize the slave computer but wasn't functional, either because the slave was too slow (A 200 megahertz PC) or because I had zone alarm turned on or maybe it was the USB ethernet adaptor. Let me know what results you guys are getting. I got tired and went to sleep and unintstalled it. I'm presently building a new computer. I wonder if the gigabit LAN router and cards would be a worthy investment for the Teleport? I'll read their site later when they have more postings.

Well. I did some brief testing this morning.
After some initial problems (probably a Logic problem) i got it running.
It works just fine!!!
I had some peculiarities creeping up on me but they were probably user errors.
Just a fast test you know.
I will do a lengthier rewiew when i have the time (got to drink some beeres today).
Note: Disabling the Firewall on the slave was a really good idea.
An USB to ethernet adapter has way to low bandwitdh to work.
Oh yeah. Tech specs:
Main comp. ASUS P4B533-V with an PIV. Running Windows XP. Built in ethernet port.
Routed to Toshiba Sattelite Pro 4600 laptop.
Pentium III machine. Built in ethernet.Windows XP.
It was really cool running a VSTi on the slave just as it had been in the main comp.
I actually had quite a bit of problems running this sucker!!
Mostly user error and (i believe) Logic problems, networking peculiarites and so on.
I am pretty convinced that the FX Teleport is not to blame here but it would'nt be fair not to report the problems i had.
Nr 1. Installation was no problem but Logic frooze when i first started it, waiting forever on "Initilasing external sample editor"???? I started Logic again without Pulsar running (disabling the Audio function). Started Pulsar, restarted the Audio engine in Logic and everything was fine since then.
NR 2. I had some very weird latency problems. When a track was selected it played in sync but when i selected another track it was way off. Hmmm......
I disabled the latency compensation in Logic and then the problem was reversed!!! The tracks that were'nt selected were fine and the selected track was way off.
This must be some Logic bug. I really can't see how FX Teleport could cause this behaviour.
NR 3. Suddenly latencies would go thru the roof. But i had a fresh install on the laptop that was'nt tweaked a bit so it is probably a bunch of programs that decided to check various stuff on the internet.
So be careful to tweak your network settings for maximum smoothness. No automatic updates and such crap.
But when it worked it worked just fine. I really think this is the future in VST networking. Just be sure to tweak you're systems and everything should be hunky dory.
I have'nt done any really heavy testing but it seems to work just as intended but i can't give you any exact figures on how many VSTs you can run before the network overflows and such.
So final verdict. 5 stars probably. If the problems i had were related to something else than the FX Teleport, which i strongly suspect.
Clearly you want to love this program. Let's hear more when you have been using it for a few weeks. Did you register? I'm still a little skeptical. Maybe they need to iron out some bugs.
