Just a few quick notes about the new machine I built at work.. we chose the Abit NF7-S Nforce2 board as we needed Serial ATA RAID, and didn't want to risk the Epox board.

Basically the board is great, and I have a Pulsar2, Pulsar1 and 2 UAD1's working in it without hiccups (so far!).

However, if any of you are thinking of buying this board, be aware that, due to immense design stupidity, only 2 slots can be used with Creamware cards with an ADAT port. This is because there are capacitors and CD/audio headers in the way of the ADAT port on the PCI bracket. The only slots I could install the Pulsars in were 4 and 5. Slot 5 shares with the onboard Serial ATA controller, but the host card (Pulsar2) is in slot 4, and in theory all the PCI traffic should go through that. So far it's working great on lowest ULLI, with Pulsar, audio and UAD stuff goin on at the same time.

So a nice board, but I can't imagine putting in 3 creamware cards into this box now. I'm not sure if the same would apply with z-link or SRB boards, as I have never handled them.

Full spec :

Abit NF7-S
AMD 2800+ barton
2x 512 matched Corsair XMS 333mhz
2x seagate serial ata 120gb
Matrox G550

This is also the case with Asus A7N8X Deluxe rev.2.00.
Pci-slot 4 can only hold a card without an i/o doughter-board, since asus thaught this was a real good place to put the cd-audio plug for the old cd-rom/modems (u know, in the old days we needed to plug in cd-audio)
