What you've uploaded is a 'link to' a track on your audio cd. If you want to upload audio, extract an mp3 from the song on cd.
http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/ has a program that converts the cd track to .wav, and http://home.pi.be/~mk442837/ has Lame mp3 codec, which can be used to convert the wav to mp3.
Also Cubase can rip audio cd's and convert to mp3, check the manual of your own sequencer.
The audio files on planetz are in .mp3 format, most of them are 128kbps.

I converted the track to MP3 in Wavelab and then burnt onto CD. Then i copy the track from CD onto the hardrive of this computer and thats where something goes wrong, because up until this point windows media player will play the track, so it must be something that happens when i copy and paste. I've tried it with MP3 and audio and its the same everytime: no problem playing back from CD, but once the file has been transfered, the media player won't recognise it? Sorry everybody!
'it's just a "*.cda" track, ie audio cd format, that can be heard only from a audio cd (the burner sofware converted the mp3 into a true cda file, which is normal, because you may have done a cd-audio by mistake).'
Sorry, i'm not sure what you mean.
Could someone explain the correct method of uploading a track (in a step by step 'idiot proof' way)? Thanks.

see that you have the mp3 somewhere on your harddisk.
start a new 'topic' in the Z music section (here...), fill in the info, and where you have to define your song, choose browse and go to the file on your harddisk (or website if it's online), be sure to change the copyright field, press submit, and wait, wait, wait a bit longer, and all should be ok... just be real patient.

you got the normal WAV or AIFF file on your computer? right... on my mac i use iTunes to convert the aiff to mp3, dead easy.
i took a quick look into windows media player on my pc laptop, but couldn't find such a function at first glance. there must be some app for windows that can do the conversion on your machine for sure...
maybe you succeeded already, but you don't realise... check the destination folder of your converted mp3's. in iTunes, my tracks fly to iTunes/untitled artist/untitled album folder... took some time to find out
