Volume filter.

I want a device that will allow me to just set up a volume bandwidth.Say I want to hear the volume from between -50dB's to -60dB's.
Just type in the highest and lowest volume and for the output to just reproduce those limits.Something easy I don't want to use filters or gates will ramps,just brickwall in and out.
Any chance?

It will allow me to monitor energy of different handwidths telling me whats there and whats not. E.G.Bass guitar sound muddy,check it in increments to find rogue frequency and amplitude.I know this can be done with sweep eq's but I want something more precise seeing we now have digital.
