Digidesign belongs to AVID on which M$soft holds a minority - and all three are working together very closely.
Until they haven't kicked that PALLADIUM and DRM bs publicly off the table I consider them enemies.
Mr. $Bill himself admitted that the 'protection of artist's work' opened their eyes for the real potential of that approch, if it would be applied to data flow in office apps and email systems instead of CDs.
cheers, Tom

You mean Fairlight?
I fail to see the relevance of this as the Fairlight consoles use Sharc processors as well.
So instead of programming their own plug ins they bought them from CW instead.
You can't run TDM plugs on CW cards period.
Unless Digidesign changes from Motorola processors to Sharcs. Or CW changes from Sharcs to Motorolas. Which is very unlikley.

That CW is working with big companies is of course a good thing.
But i still fail to see the relevance this has with wether or not SFP will run TDM plugs.
btw. FAIRCHILD made the probably the best compressor ever made. But are out of buisnes since forever.
FAIRLIGHT is a australian company that more or less invented the digital sampler.
Now they make digital recorders and mixers.

I met the gurus behind Fairlight several times: once when they were getting big and famous; another time when they were at their peak and had just released the incredible A$100,000 Series-III machine; and again when they were goinf down and struggling and were hoping for miracles with their (I think) Voicetracker (?).
Their story is a little sad: great idea that flourished briefly, was crushed by cheaper technology, and then for decades after struggling to get back again. Sort of like a "one hit wonder" band...
