It's that W32.Sobig worm. It mutated itself into a M$ mailer.

Here the same!!! Fortunatelly our server blocks pif, scr, exe and zip files (i.e. erases the file's content)

Additionaly we're on Macs and all the s**t that comes with e-mails like: I've got something for you; look at my pictures; etc would have been ignored. BTW - it looks funny when I receive such e-mail from a friend I've seen 10 minutes earlier and the e-mail is surprisingly written in English (he doesn't know a word!)

in the scientific institute where i work we received hundreds of mail from
support@microsoft.com
each one with a pif or scr attached...
it was a big virus bombing, but fortunately, no one got hurt!

This is a bit OT, but my "go anywhere" Hotmail account told me a sad story the other day: "Cannot block sender. Blocked sender list at 250 address limit."

Every day I get a message from this address, and now I see, I was right to delete these messages immediately!
Once I tried to run such a pif, but nothing happened, only the computer crashed down. After that, I did Norton Anti-Virus. Shines my system is clean.
To hell with all that damned virus creators!!!

And do you remember those DIY messages:'attention locate a file *.exe in your system folder and delete it as it's a dangerous virus'? And in fact you (or you fingers) is the one to cause damage because you delete a file required for a proper windows run

Yeah, I remember the SULFBNK.exe ploy.

"Delete the bear, it's nasty".

I can't begin to count the sheer quantity of people who got caught by that one!

Fortunately it was no problem to restore the sulfbnk.exe from my win-installation disk! Some days after deleting it I got a message that it is only a hoax. Btw, the icon of this file is really frightening!

But I could help some friends with the same problem.
