Can 2100 RAM system take 2700 RAM ?

Can 2100 RAM system take 2700 RAM ? This is probably very obvious and I'm almost sure the answer is yes, but thought I'd just check. (I used to have 133MHz RAM in my old 100MHz system).

I know they'll be no benefits from inserting faster RAM when my P4B266 just takes 1600/2100, but it seems that the only RAM you can buy now is 2700...

Hi Spirit.

Please, go to Crucial memory and then, at your right side, check for the MOBO trademark you have (Asus), then choose your model, then go to the matching posible memories your MOBO can get, and you'll clear your mind. There is no posible mistake there... they are experts.

All RAM are backwards compatible..

You can easily fit a 400Mhz PC3200 DDR chip into any old DDR system..
It will simply be clocked down to what ever your system allows..

The good thing about using faster ram that gets clocked down is that you can run extreemely agressive memory settings without problems..

For instance, my Kingston DDR has CAS 2.5 when running at 333Mhz (166mhz), but if I run it at 266Mhz (133) I can easily set it to CAS 2 in the bios without sacrificing stability.. (The SPD of the chip even says so).
And THAT is actually quite a difference in speed...
