Hi there

My setup is not working as i wish it would:
What ever I do my both Scope-Cards share IRQ
with Promise-Raid-controler.
Can someone tell me where I can change the IRQ-Number for the promise-controler ?
Could`nt find it in Bios.

I would like to work on 96 khz but can only load 3 * masterverbs. Then i get the message "the capicity of your dsps has been reached" . But I only use 25 % of my dsps so far .

Thaks for answering

By the way :

I turned of in Bios :

USB 2.0
Lan
Floppy
Com-Ports

Scope-Cards have bot IRQ 9 forced by Bios.

The problem must be the promise ide controller, i never had any luck with promise...

Try deactivating the promise controller all togheter using jumpers if possible...

And your scope card should be in pci slot 1 & 5 if you want them on the same irq

ok , thank you marcuspocus
I will try to deactivated the promise-controler . Maybe it`s better not to run a raid-setup with creamware.
I will ask a fraind to help me rebuild this harddrive things....
Why should i use slot 1 and 5 .
I can force for example slot 3 and 4 to have the same irq. Is there a difference ?

I've read that RAID is always very aggressive to the PCI-bus. But you need maximal PCI-bandwidth to use more masterverbs or fat samples.
Slot 3+4 may work if they don't share their IRQ with other things, but I would be afraid if the heat grows too high. Try to find slots for your SCOPEs with a bigger distance and then force the IRQs again.

Good luck, Thomas

I said to use pci slot 1 & 5 because i know that specific motherboard shared those slot with nothing else than themself (aka PCI slo1 share only with PCI slot 5) so by default your two cards will share with each other, and nothing else, except maybe promise ide controller which i don't know with what pci slot they share...

So, use pciu slot 1& 5, then check right on boot (you can press the 'pause' key to see what irq is sharing with what when booting (in the initial bios sequence).

If they dont share with anything, now you're safe on irq... Then, comes the PCI usage... If you are limited in number of masterverb, it is mostly due to pci capacity, this is where the promise control is a pain in the neck...

If you can avoid using it, it will only help.
