hey, starting to think about upgrading mobo. Any experience yet with SFP products and the new Intel E7205 chipset or with the SIS stuff such as ASUS P4S8X-X (SiS 648) Series?

A bit off topic, but perhaps you should make sure to buy a mobo that supports SATA - The new HDD-interface, that supports much faster transfer rates.

I just thought I would mention it...

Just upgraded my mobo from an Asus CUSL2 P3 to an Asus P4G8X Deluxe P4 using the intel E7205 chipset......................
...............................................................................Yes, it works. (HW, using 2 Pulsar 2 cards and a wordclock card. Still using Matrox 450 as it has no onboard fan. SW, Windows XP and Cubase SX). As well documented from alot of other users, Avoid SiS chipsets. more details later. Buyaka in ade 'ouse

Interesting discussion going on.

I'm looking at the new i875P chipset -> and I'm sniffing at the ASUS P4 C800 deluxe MOBO. Dont like the "Intelligent Audio-Sensing Technology" - wonder if it could be disabled if turns out to be a problem with my Pulsar II?

Why choose E7205 over i875P - or indeed - why choose i875P over E7205 ?????

Beats me.

Master Verb testin' on new Asus P4G8X deluxe MoBo E7205 C/s as follows. Set up: in SFP: STM 2448, Asio2 16bit Source 24channels, GraphEQ S & P2 Analog dest. Used vocal parts and VST instruments in SX Sent them to Asio2 channels, sent the Asio channels to the Masterverbs and the MV,v to the Mixer. I got a maximum of...................................... 12 Masterverbs. all connected and each with a different preset. No PCI error message, only the DSP capacity limit message. My guess is 8 MV's would be comfortable to use. Buyaka in ade 'ouse.
