whitch asus board for my pulsar2 ?

hello everyone.
i'm gooing to buy a new computer and i want some advice about asus board .
my computer will be:

P4 2.4Ghz 533k.
asus motherbord ?
512mb DDR 333Mhz Kingston/sumsong .
80 Giga westerndigital 8mb catch
10/100 lan card that i have.
matrox G450 agp card dualhead that i have.
and of coruse my pulsar2.
i dont need onboard stuff like lan or audio card that i allready have or don't need them.
so i need some addvice for motherboard to buy(i know it will be asus) and i'd like to hear some advice acordind to this spesification.

I've seen this question alot here lately...

Like the other one, i'll say Asus P4B533... stable, proven... There are newer one, but again, this one is stable, proven...

I have seen reports on people using Pulsar with the Asus P4PE, all positive. I have one of these myself (the RAID/serial-ATA model with firewire etc), but I do not use Pulsar on it.

It is rock solid.

I recently went through the same chore of choosing a "suitable" motherboard and the rest of it. It was ultimately a chioce between the P4B533 and P4PE. I chose the P4PE, got Corsair DDR PC2700(DDR333), and Enermax 550W supply and I was rolling. The P4PE i saw, basically, as an "updated" P4B533??

I have been using the P4PE with a pulsar 2 and two scope SRBs for about a month now with no problems - just these three boards and nothing else.

I done that "quick reverb test" that some on this forum have talked about in the past. I managed to get 16 reverbs in serial before the system gave up and compained about PCI overloading. I could only achieve 8 previously with the ABIT BEII (i815) motherboard. This, I thought was a big improvement on my previous setup - not sure whether it is actually a good test though, like I said, just a quick one.

One thing to NOTE.... I am using Windows 98SE. When I installed the motherboard, obviously W98 wanted new drivers for the various bits on the P4PE but for some reason I could not access my CDROM and with the drivers on a CD this was a bit of a problem! I had to copy the contents of the CD to A hard drive and then put this in the new system with the P4PE so then I had access to the drivers only this time from the hard drive! BEWARE.

I probably went the long way round doing this but it got me there - so I'm happy.

I still have a couple of teething problems which are definately unrelated to the Pulsar/SFP environment and are not stopping me from enjoying my new system.

Hello. I would suggest the Asus P4T533 or P4T533-C. This has RDRAM which can run at 32 bit or 16 bit up to 1066MHZ. Much faster for your Sequencing (Cakewalk, Logic, etc.

I would say the same thing, as it is what i have (P4T533-C with pc1066 rambus), but since he already had 512meg of ddr, i tough he would spend less money for the board+ram...

rambus DOES run fast has hell, specially for those using sts series samplers, since they use ram extensively, but not THAT much a difference for general sequencing etc... Well, maybe not worth the price, since he already have the ddr ram...

yeah, RDRAM is scary... shame it's so expensive

a question for you lucky rambus users : does rambus have issues with heat? the faster DDR (PC3200) gets pretty warm...

Well, didn't notice a difference, really, maybe cuz they're kinda fully shielded with metal plate each side.

i bought my computer with asus P4PE with 512 ddr 333mhz .
i'm very pleased becuase after my p3 700 with 512 sdram

waiting for a good sability.
