Hi everyone, I am thinking about buying a creamware pulsar card, and I havent done much research yet. My main concern is if you can monitor through headphones, and if so how? On the documentation that I read, I didnt see a dedicated "out"for monitoring through headphones. Is there something that I am missing. Sorry guys, I just heard about this card, from what I've heard, its great, i just havent done much research yet, hopefully you guys can help. Thanks.

Hi There
The simplest way for you to listen to your audio from Pulsar, thru headphones, is to buy a Spirit Folio Notepad desk (just over £100),and connect the analog out stereo phonos from your Pulsar card to the stereo in phonos of the spirit desk.Although you could opt for a decent headphone amp to listen back thru, the price difference between this and the Spirit is very small. The Spirit is in my mind unbeatable at this price as you also get four very decent pre amped channels for line and mic inputs that you can use to send vocals, guitars etc into Pulsar via the card's analog ins.You also have plenty of other outs from the desk allowing you to connect active monitors/amps etc.
By the way Go with the Pulsar, there is nothing out there to compete with it.

ui,
so! the board by itself has no output for headphones (that´s the first fact!).
but: if you want to hear headphones you have the pssobility (like always) to connect the analaogoutputs (mostly cinchplugs) to a normal cd or aux-in at your hifiamplifier or you buy a simple headphone-amplifier for this. but: don´t buy that shitty desks like sprit folio or something priceless.... if you want to buy something for headphoneamplifiing, buy the cheapest one... only for headphones don´t invest that much...
and: think about hearing with headphones is during the time very bad for your ears-and tht´s the most improtant thnig for you as musician---THINK ABOUT!

Although I myself use the adat outs to feed my audio to what you would probably call a high end digital desk, monitors etc, some people are just starting out and rather than monitor through a far from clean and colouring hi fi amp,the Spirit is good value for all the reasons previously given.

Subject: adressorientied responses are better!
hi,
a) okay, you were speaking about this spirit digital desk. okay, okay! but did you think about the guy whos was asking when you were giving your response? a guy who is not knowing that headphonemonitoring is not possible with this cards, a guy who wants to mix with headphones, a guy who is obviously starting in thinking pc/hd-recording/studiostuff and so on!
what for is this message to tell him he should buy a desk like this spirit to monitor?
b) okay, i´m doing it the same way-all adats are in use, linking 2 systems and a digitalmixer, i know it by myself how to do it!
greetings

Hi "new to the game"
I apologise for the silly discussion that has arose due to your simple question.Mine was only a suggestion of what I thought would be a wise buy if you were just starting out.
Whatever you choose to go for I hope you have productive New Year and enjoy your Pulsar.
Best Regards and Good Luck Lov43

Subject: Good Headphones
Hey, just thought I would say that the Beyerdynamic DT 150s (or 180s... which ever the one without the talkback mic on it) are GREAT headphones and the cost a little over $100. I know many studios that use them cause you can hear everything. They are abit bass heavy and not REALLY flat or anything but they kick the shit out of anything at that price (like the Audio Technicas). I hook them up like everyone has said here (through a Mackie Mixer). Bye

This is bringing up an old topic again, but..
I am trying to set up some way of listening through headphones and also listening through my monitors without changing wires all the time.
I have a Spirit folio F1 and also a fostex vc8 adat. I run the optical wire from pulsar into the VC8 and plug all my gear into the VC8, then take the output of that to a channel on the F1, and the mix out of F1 to my amp. Trouble is there is no signal through the headphone jack on the F1.
Do I need to run the analogue out of pulsar to a channel on the F1 to get a headphones, or am I missing something?
