This transmission is dedicated to the brave crew and the families of the space shuttle Columbia.
Welcome to the final transmission from the logbook of „Starchaser“.
Due to the fact that we are now in deep space, and nearly out of range, we have had to shorten this transmission to 8 Mins 24 Seconds and it is 7,877Mb in size.
One of our first tasks upon leaving Earth was to despatch a pod containing a Mobile Observer Unit (MOU) to the surface of Mars. The mission of the MOU was to ascend the highest mountain in our Solar System – Olympus Mons, which is 27Km high and is situated in a barren, dusty, rocky and eerie volcanic region of Mars.
The climb put quite a strain on the MOU and at the summit it released jets of steam, and we are proud to say, the first droplets of water to touch the surface of Mars for millions of years.
The MOU should continue to transmit pictures to you for many years to come.
Tell us what you see when you look at the transmitted video footage, because we had to leave, just as it went out of our sight down the other side of the mountain.
We hope you enjoy our final transmission. We may return to our Solar System in the future.
If we do, and you want us to look at some more moons and planets, please let us know. We will look out for your transmissions and transmit our findings back to you should we return.
We would especially like to thank Gustav, the oldest member of our crew, for providing the inspiration for this track. Once we got him out of cryogenic storage and got his medication balanced he made quite a contribution. Does anyone remember his last name?

To be honest: I was not shure if you guys were going to make it having received your earlier transmissions, so I'm somewhat relieved that you obviously did!
Excellent work, congratulations!
Must be extrem fun to listen to this in an exquisit environment (like sitting in a café on a spacestation with panoramic view), mixed to some 8 loudspeakers, moving...

Thank you very much cook, we always tried to build something like a movie without pictures. The movie should play in the head of the listener.
The scene you desrcribe is nearly the scene that Neil and I had in our head during the tracks.
We will sent this track to the NASA, maybe they like it too, we will see.
HA! Maybe we meet someday in the ISS or something bigger, hearing a Starchaser track on the journey
It´s good to read a review like yours.

"Observer has landed!"
Another track which I completely missed! Sorry guys.
All the analog-style arpeggios in this are really warm, and again, remind me of node.
I do hope you make more music together- I really like what you've done.
Why don't you tell us more about your collaboration process, and how you made some of these wonderful sounds. I (and a lot of people) are really impressed with what you've done here, and would love to learn from you! (if you want, you could do this in a new topic over in 'general discussion', or just right here on Mars, which is as good a venue as any

Thanks John,
Yeah, I'd got my Node/Tangerine Dream/Redshift head on and I really wanted to do some beefy arpegg sequencing as well as adapting Gustav Holst's Mars from the Planet Suite and weaving it into the track.
I like the idea of us sharing how we did it (especially as I'll learn some of the things Chris did!!!!!!). It is MONTHS since we did it but I'm sure we'll remember.
I'll email/have a word with Chris and see if we can come up with a joint post about what we did individually and collaboratively for the 3 tracks, of course if people are interested - anyone?
Thanks again for us having such a great planet ("Z") for us to return to.

What I could say, I don´t know, thank you.
We will roll up our project and type something together I think we´ve got nearly all mails we shared together in that time(over 6months). We can tell you how Starchaser was born and how we made it.
Neil and I have to plan this but something will come out of it, "The hidden logbook", hehe.

Neil, my jealousy springs from the fact that I wish I had a partner to compose with, someone to bounce ideas with in REAL-TIME, face-to-face.
I'm not that hip with this semi-anonymous "through the internet, exchanging files over FTP" type of arrangement. If I were to collaborate in this way, I would at least need to hear the person's voice at the end of my phone cord a couple of times. (I'm not afraid of long distance phone calls)
You get my drift...

Are we listening?..
Hi Paul,
Yeah, I get your drift. Yet, after all this time I still haven't spoken to Chris but we plan to meet in the New Year.
To be fair, and I'm sure Chris will agree, it hasn't all been plain sailing. We've had our disagreements like all friends. We've had highs and lows. In the end though we've become true friends.
Getting used to writing over the internet has been a progressive thing too.
Although we haven't spoken to each other we do make use of some software called Frizzby which allows us to chat on line, transfer files at the same time and then continue working on projects.
Perhaps you & I could do a Air Sculpture like track sometime, but I think it would be many months down the road. There's too much happening for me as it is - goodness knows how I found the time to go to work
Come on someone - offer to do a collaboration with Paul.....

Whoa!
Thats all I can say initially after hearing this.
I see this track was posted here in february so my review is a little late but, what the hell.
Im a huge fan of of early and mid 70s Tangerine Dream, and this track could very well be on one of those albums.
Great stuff!
