The Patchmaker project * PRISMA INFO *

Post by Spirit »

For all our patchmakers, here's the information for the Prisma project. To read the general background to this project, look here:
http://www.planetz.com/forums/viewtopic ... tart=20&31

The idea is to write the ultimate collection of sounds for the Prisma. Each patch will carry the name of its creator. Make sure you put your initials or nickname at the end of the patch name. Everyone is invited to write sounds - even just one or two ! Reply to this thread or private message me and I'll add you to this list - that way we know who's working on what and which areas might need more attention. The more we get, the better for everyone on the Z

* * * All sounds should be in by the end of January * * *

Here are the sound categories and the patchmakers so far.

The patchmakers:
  • Ben Walker
  • Ganool
  • Dehuszar
  • Zezappa
  • Spirit (bass, LFO & perc)
  • Chris Werner (pads)
  • Borg
  • King of Snake

If we get enough patches there will be ten separate banks:
  • Bass (all bass sounds including drones)
  • Lead ("character" sounds for riffs)
  • Arpg (LFO-based arpeggios and bpm FX)
  • Pads(all strings, sweeps, evolutions)
  • Keys (sounds for real keyboard players)
  • Perc (noise hits, toms & zaps)
  • SFX (non-musical weirdness)
  • Real (organ, brass, oboe, harp etc)
  • Hard (nasty sync, high-resonance etc)
  • CW (standard default bank - unaltered)

Thanks to all the generous patchmakers !

(Please private message me if I've put you on the list in the wrong place, or assumed too much from the other thread  )

Uhh, happy to write patches, but a quick clarification... does 'mixed' refer to whatever I come up with?

Yes. For example, 3 bass patches, 2 pades, 6 leads etc. I'll sort them out into the appropriate banks.

I've always liked the Prisma, but it's amazing what happens when you really sit down and start working with it. You go to places completely different than when you're just tinkering.

Often I'll write sounds "on the run" when writing a song to fit a particular need. It's been a long time since I've sat down and decided to have a full patch-making session.

The results so far have been very worthwhile - I think I've managed to make some rather realistic cello and violin sounds, and some sweet ethereal voices

So try it !

Then message me to say how you'll be emailing me some sounds soon ! If so it'll be a fantastic list of presets

Thanks to Ganool, Andy and ds-sound for some excellent Prisma patches.

I'll wait a couple of days for any late entries, then start compiling

Pads sent to Spirit. I´am curious about the Planet Z Bank. What a great idea this is, I´ve really learned much during the work with the Prisma, isn´t it a nice synth?
Cheers

Got the sounds Chris  Also thanks to Zezappa. Great to see people sharing their work for the good of everyone !

I'm putting the banks together now and will be ready in a few days.

The Prisma is certainly a deep synth - capable of a huge range. I'm just making a few more patches myself before I post....

I just can't get to grips with Prisma. I like synths with about 10 knobs (see my presets for Sonic Attack) and I'm working on some for Zarg's Prophet & the MiniMax. I think we should make this a regular Preset making event, focussing on a different SFPi (do you like that?) every month. Perhaps the Presets section could be arranged in some manner so that they're grouped by SFPi or some other method to tidy things up a bit.

Apologies for being a little slow in pulling all this together - I'm applying for a new job tomorrow and it's taking up a lot of time preparing for it !

Spirit -
If I can find time, I will try to contribute some patches. I do have one question, though - how will you control the multiplication of extremely similar patches? Listen to all of them and decide what goes/stays? A similar problem was encountered by the Nord Modular mailing list, where there were thousands of patches on the internet - one of the Nord gurus finally wrote an application that identified similar patches. I can't expect that to happen here, but just wondering (I have no idea the size of the CW Modular community).

More patches would be great ! My apologies to everyone who has contributed so far, I'm still snowed under with work - part of my effort o secure this new job. I'm sitting here in the dark in front of 3 screens after a loooong day at work. The Z is my entertainment !

As for similar patches, yes there are a few, but since I'm grouping them in categories it's pretty quick to cycle through them.

Email your patches here:

thanks

Ummmm.... yes it is taking a while.

I could post what I have so far, but there's not all that many - although some of the constribued patches are VERY good  . I'm trying to write a substantial number of extras so that the download is really good. I want this to be the ultimate Prisma bank.

So my apolgies again about the delay, but if anyone has any extras to contribute, there's still time

All good things need their time, I´am sure that every time we wait is worth the time.
Don´t hurry Spirit, if you need help just shout.
