I can't get direct monitoring to work.. I've followed several steps described by various Z members, but I can't hear audio coming from outside gear.. ouch!

I am using A16 Ultra's 15+16 OUT (ADAT DEST B 7 + 8 ) for my main mix out...

It works if I turn directmonitoring off... But then I have quite some delay between recorded tracks and the audio coming from my outside gear.

And I am not using any SFP synth or effect... Straight through the Cubase SX mixr, no insert even.

Direct monitoring have nothing to do with your hardware sources/destinations, it is related to asio(2) src/dest:
If you route your hardware source to [asio dest 3L], then the "direct monitored" signal will be available at [asio src 3L] and so on... You can route what-ever hardware sources to what-ever asio channels.

wait, i am not sure we are talking about the same thing... I know i can route whatever I want to whichever output, but I precisely want to use the "Direct Monitoring" option you can find in the ASIO Setup dialog in Cubase SX using XTC.

There were long posts explaining how to plug a merge module, the directsomething module (sorry i am not on my pulsar machine right now) etc... it didnt sound like "this is the default stuff", but definitly some precise setup to have no latency on signals coming from outside.

Thanks for letting me know. All i know is thta if I enable this "direct" mode in Cubase, the outside signals are not routed to my main BUS.

Does anyone know how I get the sound to the monitor speakers from the analog outputs in the Creamware a16, I don't seem to get it to work I have audio signal from a analog synthesizer in cubase sx2 and I have routed it to bus1 which is main audio out, but I still can't hear any sound in my speakers
