Matrox is the proven king of Dual monitor. I'm having my second Matrox card now. My next card will probably be an Parhelia.
I'm still using a G450 w 32MB RAM, which works great for what I use it. NEVER had any problem with it, running 2 monitors at 1024x768, 75 & 85 Hz.
To remove these ghost lines (going up on one and down on the other screen), set monitors to different refresh rates. It has nothing to do with Matrox, but 2 frequencies that are very close to each other (they're never 100% equal) will cause interference/ghost lines when you put 2 monitors one next to the other.

Guys are you running your matrox on 19' screens ?
My present card makes fonts (black on white) a bit blurred, which was ok under a 17' screen but now I find it annoying...
However, I found that most computers show that "bug" so may be it is a limitation of nowadays technology or something...
--- Does matrox provide sharp fonts (on black fonts especially .... ) ?
Sorry i trake advantage of this thread for this question but for me it's more important thn dual screen right now.
thanks

I have a NEC 21" and a Compaq 19", both at 1280x1024, both at 85mghz... Fonts are perfect, at any resolution, that is exactly why Matrox is so good in dualhead... 2D quality of matrox is yet to be beaten...On 2002-11-13 15:10, spacef wrote:

The BEST picture on the market as of today....Matrox sell their card for medical imagery, no blur is allowed there!
ATI and nVidia looks like amateurs in this field compared to Matrox.
Matrox still exist mainly because of their top quality graphics, it is still today, the best card a graphist or a developer like me can buy. You can work hours in front without fatigue because the fonts, lines, etc don't blur at all, at any resolution. I have a second PC for gaming with the latest nVidia card, it is fast, but i can't work java code for more than an hour on it.

Hi, since few month I use a MSI GeForce4 Ti 4200 Video card with two 17" Eizo monitors and use a resolution of 1280x1024x32-Win98SE.
The DVI connector was included the package and beside 6CD´s with up to date games, drivers and so on. Also, if you watch DVD´s, the MSI drivers make several changes on your DVD player software, you can zoom in at movies and other nice things.
I´ve heard that the Creamware Modular Engine supports GeForce4 in some way,(is this true?) I can say that everything works very fast and without problems.
cheers

I want to run a setup with one LCD at 1600x1200 over DVI (using the Dell 2000FP, a splendid screen with a very nice price tag) and one CRT at 1280x1024 over VGA.
Anyone know which card may support that? The Matrox G450/550 cards does not seem to manage it. Parphelia saids it got support for up to 2 DVI connected panels of 1600x1200 resolution - but does anyone know if it possible to mix DVI/VGA to create the setup I want?
I'm thinking that Geforce4 TI cards is the way to go here - the new 4200 comes at a reasonable price. Any comments?
(Yes, I am actually thinking of investing in another 2000FP and that would clearly be a good setup for Parphelia. However, I have to make do with my ol' 20" CRT first)

Hi Devo
The Matrox cards will do the DVI+CRT trick just fine, if you just make shure to get a card with DVI-connectors. After that you just need an adapter. Go to the Matrox homepage and see the actual possibillities.
I have a Radeon9000 based grafics card in one of my PCs. That one will be fine for you current use also. The model I have has a DVI and a CRT output. Also one nice feature, wich I happen to like a lot about this card is, that I can turn the picture. Right now my monitor is tilted 90¤ - giving me 1024wide and 1280high
I realy prefer this for all but gaming.
No need to go Parphelia for Pulsar - unless you want to use 3 monitors! It is much more expensive than a g450/550, and the g450/550 does the job fine.

I recently bought an ATI Radeon9000 Pro as well, because I wanted to do the dualhead thing. Thing, is I don't have any money left for a second monitor!
i'm just sick of using only this old Daewoo 15" CRT, and I want to add at least a 17"CRT to it, (I'm afraid I won't be able to afford a TFT for now).
That said, the Radeon 9000's seem to be very good and very affordable. I also still play a lot of games on my system and it seems to hadle those very well too.
