Is the Intel D850M Mobo any good with SFP?
Hi,
I have a carillon ac1 pc and it works very nicely.
I have 3 creamware cards so I have had to add extra fans on cards to keep them cool since their is no exhaust fan as standard.
mine came with a 2ghz pIV and an intel 850mv board which does the job nicely. It has hardly any bios options but is nice and stable.
I did have problems getting my boards on the same IRQ but Im not sure how big an issue that is.
I did have some compatibility issues between my midiman midisport interface and the creamware cards and have put that down to USB/irq problems. So I have since sold the usb midi interface and bought a unitor 8 with serial. Ive disabled my usb ports too.
now it runs fine.
As for the carillon pc. Its a nice box, strong sturdy and rackmountable. you can fit a second harddisk (in a silentdrive) vertically behind the front facia if you ask for the required mounting bracket.
I replaced the cpu fan/heatsink combination with pabst/alpha combination as the supplied one wasnt particularly quiet. But that was rather pointless since I have now had to add additional fans to cool my creamware cards.

To be or not to be. What was the question?
