Well, the cat is out of the bag, so to speak.

Seems CW is considering a major 3DAT release in the not too distant future based on Scope technology.

I know that there are still plenty of die-hard tripleDAT users out there who are celebrating this news including me. I had been planning (plotting?) a move away from 3DAT for a while now. The upcoming Samplitude release looked really promising to me but I will hold off for a while longer until I see what this new version looks like. Needless to say, I will be one of the first in line to buy it when it comes out.

Good things come to those who wait

Check out the 3DAT forum on the CW website. Ingo responded to a question there.

... and I thought that was just another of those 'Ingo when ?' topics.
Btw, Larry, I recently passed north of your former base near HessOD on a bicycle ride, still a nice place...

cheers, Tom

COOL BEANS!

I've always had this feeling that CW was brewing something, although, I must admit that my light of hope was slowly fading, succumbing to 3rd party DAWs. But, there is light afterall!

WOO HOO!!!

I totally share your enthusiasm. In fact, I'm more excited about that than the next SFP upgrade. It'll be interesting to see what they sell it for. I'm sure it'll support 24/96 (finally) as well as updated CDR/W burning. I hope they keep Osiris. The rest of the native 3DAT effects can disappear as far as I'm concerned (well, except for the analyzer).

Here Here, Krizrox!

Then, I can retire my tripleBOARD II, although I still use it to control my DAT machine... And also to sync via Song Pointer with my trusty Dr.T's KCS sequencer but, that's going back to the native 18bit AD/DA on the tripleBOARDII.

What's the point unless it's interaction/graphic speed etc. with the Scope hardware is faster/better than SX or Logic Audio 5/ASIO2? Is it? Stability?

I'm interested but never had the chance to use it recently. What's the TripleDat plug-in like? Would like some feedback from current users would be cool please.
The last thing we need is another developement time waster if its a dog...I hope it's not as a recording matched perfectly to the Creamware hardware would be a nice dream.
cheers all.

3DAT was CW's flagship product at one time. They dropped development on it in favor of the newer Scope products - about 5 years ago. This left a lot of people who were loyal to 3DAT kinda hanging - or forced to look elsewhere. Well, whatever. Ancient history.

In any event, I'm not sure it makes sense to compare 3DAT to Cubase or Logic. Those are sequencers. 3DAT doesn't do video or MIDI sequencing. It's just a plain ol' hard disk multi-track recording program. Maybe it would be better to compare it to Cool Edit or Samplitude or something like that.

It would have been nice if CW had given it at least one more major overhaul and continued to update it over the years. They kinda got it to where it worked pretty well and then walked away (the few remaining bugs are just minor annoyances, not show stoppers).

The Plug-in was just a warmed-over version of the original program with a few side benefits for new users:

1) including Firewalkers and Osiris - these were expensive options at one time. 3DAT with Firewalkers and Osiris would have cost you around $2K at one time.

2) MP3 support was added - a nice touch

However they took away the CD burning option unless you already had a previous version of 3DAT - so ya win a few and lose a few.

If you are happy with Cubase or Logic and know those programs inside out, then there's probably not going to be a big reason to get 3DAT - but we'll have to wait and see what the new one looks like.

btw: I'm still addicted to your Level Devil. I use it on almost every project. Couldn't live without it actually. Keep it up!

Unfortunately, 3.11b only works under Win9x. Hopefully, the new SCOPE DAW will be X-Win Platform.

Feature Wishes:
- New CD/DVD authoring suite
- 192KHz ready
- stability
- Extensive Sync locks
- Video
- Sequencer
- Skinner
- multi-mode (SFP Specialised, Classic, Native)

Quote from the German magazine "PC & Musik" Oct/Nov 2004, on page 11:

"News from Creamware

"Creamware re-issues the legendary tripleDAT software, as 32-bit capable Windows XP version. The software runs on all DSP boards of the Scope platform and costs between 198 and 398 EUR, depending on the upgrade version. The advantage of tripleDAT is its wellknown ease of use for HD recording.
Also new is the OSIRIS XP Audio Restoration Bundle, developed in cooperation with Algorithmics, and promising highest audio quality."

Question to CW: What is the status of this announcement?

Wow, talk about dredging up the past

I almost laughed when I read my original post. I'm so over this. Sonar is da bomb!

Originally, Cutmaster was a modified version of TripleDAT aimed at broadcasters (the broadcast industry). I assume this meant there were some added features geared specifically for broadcasters or program directors.

To my knowledge, Cutmaster wasn't anything a normal muso would buy. Muso's bought TripleDAT or TDAT16.

Now, it seems, Cutmaster has evolved and taken TripleDAT with it.

Best of luck to CW with this. I hope they sell a million of them.

Cutmaster has cutbase -a data storage managment-, otherwise the software is the same as tripleDAT XP.

For those who used tripledat in the past 10 years know that it is hard to dumb it. I am glad they bringing this back to life and as they web site stated that they has a showing last week.

Any body saw that ??? how was it??

Is this what you are looking for? (have a look at the menu to the left).

This aint new, but considering its mention of 14 DSP's, i think its it. if no, please correct me.

(yes i know its been around for quite some time).
