Re: Pcie to PCI adapter
Looks like el chapo stuff.
Where does the power come to the pci ? I hardly believe that usbcable can handle the power of a scope card.

Re: Pcie to PCI adapter
Well the pcie voltage transfers through the cable no? USB 3 can supply up to 5 volts but you might be right when it comes to wattage. How many watts does Scope cards need?nebelfuerst wrote: Sun Nov 17, 2024 9:34 am Looks like el chapo stuff.

Re: Pcie to PCI adapter
i'm sure it will work. i'm sure it won't work especially well.
imo, better off with an older system, or get an XITE.

Re: Pcie to PCI adapter
Pulsar-2: ~11W
Scope Pro (14DSP): ~14W
Power Pulsar (15DSP): ~14W (possibly a little more, I guess)

Re: Pcie to PCI adapter
Looks like the design runs the pcie without any buffers over the usb-style cable. Therefore the hint in the description not to plug the usb cable into an usbport.
The passive cabling over two connectors is a design, which introduces reflections and resistance, which will degrade pcie signal quality to an unspecified level, even if it might work.
PCIe 1x slots have low power, as wikipedia states: x1 cards are limited to 0.5 A at +12 V (6 W) and 10 W combined
14W might work, but it's an average value. There are peaks, when all DSPs start working synchronously.
Therefore I would prefer a design, where the power supply can feed in directly.

Re: Pcie to PCI adapter
IMO, all these "extension" solutions are crutches and in most cases cheap chinese crap for the average consumer electronics customer and not for pro work.
Why wrapping head around all these offerings again and again?
It´s time consuming, costs money and at the end of the day the result is mediocre performance.
Much easier buying a cheap, used, good condition HP server for SCOPE PCI cards,- install the application and doin´ work.
Win 7 Pro SP1 32bit,- end of story.
There are tons of these available and buying a next one for parts or as a replacement is easy and will be cheap still.
I use PCI cards in 32bit machines only.
XITE-1 is for 64bit here,- laptop or desktop.

Re: Pcie to PCI adapter
Was anything ever tested and working? I'm in the same situation. Thanks
Re: Pcie to PCI adapter
ANYone tried this? So many naysayer purists here.
I just built my new PC after 10 years of the last system and it has no PCI. Older systems are just slow. Not saying that an older system cant work with the great scope DSP, but there's a lot a fast CPU can do in a modern DAW.
If we cant adapt a PCIe to PCI then its sadly bye bye scope. Tempted to try an adapter anyway

Re: Pcie to PCI adapter
Mine is working fine. But i'm only using one card. I can load masterverbs until I have no DSP left.
I bet you could connect it to a TB to PCIE adapter as well and use it in a laptop (though I haven't tested the latter).
https://fyndiq.dk/produkt/desktop-pci-e ... uYQAvD_BwE
Needs 12v from your PSU and connects via USB cable (not using the USB protocol).

Re: Pcie to PCI adapter
hi, this work good!! XD
StarTech. com PCI Express Interface Card for PCI Low Profile Adapter Card – PCIe x1 to PCI Slot Adapter, PEX1PCI1
i use it to run 3 PCI cards on win11/LGA1851/265k/32GB/1TB/Scope7
cheers!

Re: Pcie to PCI adapter
Cool solution! So you have 3 of those adapters 1 for each Scope Card ?
