1- you can directly connect the outputs to some active external speakers. I have 4 of them attached to the A16.
2- zlink dest is the output interface, who's only target I know about, is an A16u. Maybe I don't get your question right..
3- I suspect, you have an A16ultra, as you mentioned zlink. A16ultra is 12V/5a, while the A16 is 18V.
You don't damange anything with your psu, but you might inject noise to the analog signal, as laptop psu have a higher ripple, compared to psu for audio applications.

No, the routing within the A16 is fix. Depending of what you have in mind, this might be possible in SCOPE's Routing Window.GordonGekko wrote: Sun Feb 18, 2024 4:21 am 2 - Is there a way to route zlink a dest 1and 2 to something other than a16 analog a 1 and 2 out?
Some matrix maybe?

Re: A16 ultra simple question
according to the manual, it´s 12 VAC, 1.5A !!!
I use 2 A16U and one of the PSUs is exactly this,- the other is a (norway) MASCOT PSU 12 VAC, 1.6A.
Both work like a charme w/ Z-Link and a 3-card PCI system as well as XITE-1 (w/ a blackface one)
