Pulsar I + Scope SW 4.5 on W10 32/64bit?
Hi,
I wonder if it is possible to install Scope 4.5 on 32/64bit Windows 10 (January Technical Preview)?
I have old Pulsar 1 card with Scope 4.5 sw running under compatibility mode on W7.
I know this table http://www.hitfoundry.com/issue_04/compat.htm but did anybody try that?
Peter

it might work on 32bit, but it's unlikely that it will work correctly, just like v4 in win7. it may function well enough for you, or it may not. you can always try it, although why it would be important to try win10, i'll never know....
i'll also never know why people are in a hurry to give m$ more money, but not SC....

One good reason - for me - would be to see if MS fixed the issues with 8.1. But I won't be testing that anytime soon.

this early release of Win 10 is said to be full of debug and network rubbish
(they ARE watching how people use the system)
privacey isn't the point - but it's a lot of background stuff running
it was explicitely discouraged to do any important work on this system
cheers, Tom

Dante, what issues do you have with scope on win8.1? Are they resolved now, or do you still see problems?dante wrote:One good reason - for me - would be to see if MS fixed the issues with 8.1. But I won't be testing that anytime soon.

It works on Windows 10 as of #Build 9841.Peter Cherry wrote:Hi,

You are right about the caps re: "they ARE." But that's what beta is all about. And even better, Pete (Psychlist...1972) from Microsoft (unofficial sort of) has been meeting with a lot of musicians over at 'gearslutz c0m Music Computers' on a sticky post called, "Windows 10 thread...." There, Pete says Microsoft now seems to listen to musicians specifically. And the thread (up to 7 pages as of now) has some gossip too.astroman wrote:this early release of Win 10 is said to be full of debug and network rubbish

Windows Technical Preview ... Build 9841 works with Scope VDAT. It doesn't work on (Scope's) "Windows IOs"garyb wrote:it might work on 32bit, but it's unlikely that it will work correctly, just like v4 in win7. it may function well enough for you, or it may not. you can always try it, although why it would be important to try win10, i'll never know....

I'd really prefer Scope 5.1, but PayPal doesn't like people that have Post Office Boxes. Even though the US Post Office itself requires it (for a few small towns).

oh, i think there's a way to bill you without paypal. it's just more of a "manual" method...
write to support if you need it.
of course, if you don't need it, you don't need it.
i certainly didn't mean to sound seriously grouchy...

Re: Pulsar I + Scope SW 4.5 on W10 32/64bit?
OK BACK TO THE TOPIC NOW:
I installed Pulsar I + Scope 4.5 on Windows 10 32-bit (Technical Preview 9926), because I think it is not possible with 64-bit version. Is it?
Driver (Device Manager) is fine, Scope 4.5 is running under Windows XP SP3 Compatibility mode.
I can hear the initial audio click after starting Scope but there are no Creamware Playback/Recording devices in Windows Sound settings (I see internal Realtek only).
Any ideas?
Thanks
Peter

Do you have scope running at all?
Are the wave-modules present in your scope-project?

What do you mean by "'Scope running at all'? Scope didn't start automatically (the same issue I had on W7) so I am starting it manually. I can hear an audio click. It opens the default project with basic wave/asio devices connected to mix's in/outs.

Re: Pulsar I + Scope SW 4.5 on W10 32/64bit?
one step after the other...
the non automatic start isn't necessarily a fault - I have that on my 5.1 under XP as well (and even prefer it)
connect the analog ins to a mixer channel: you should see some level in -80 db range
if the Scope Software isn't properly initialized it's -infinity or another strange value and no green light
background: the card is 'empty' if powered up, it has no functionality on it's own
the Scope.exe you clicked loads it with basic stuff and a default project
accordingly: if that program fails under Win10, the card would be completely functionless
(that's what petal meant by '...is it running at all')
you might plug in something to the physical analog inputs ... and outputs
there should be at least some white noise or hum - then the card itself is running
after that comes the software 'driver' part: Windows might refuse the Wave drivers
some Asio Host should offer Scope Asio ... etc
but first of all you should be absolutely certain that the card works on it's own
(the analog and Adat ports are in fact totally independant from Windows)
cheers, Tom

Re: Pulsar I + Scope SW 4.5 on W10 32/64bit?
Thank you for replay, I think the card itself is working (not dead). Before I installed W10 I had the following issue on W7 with it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cc6FjZ7iIYE (more info here http://forums.planetz.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=33465)
But now there are no 'Internal AUX jack' devices in W10.

Re: Pulsar I + Scope SW 4.5 on W10 32/64bit?
why would you even suspect that it would work?
when Creamware made v4, Vista wasn't even released. Vista/win7/win8/win10 are not like XP at all, really.
there's no way that it should work. it will definitely not work 100% even if it does work. if you get any sound in or out of it, you should consider that a major bonus.

Re: Pulsar I + Scope SW 4.5 on W10 32/64bit?
Internal AUX jacks were hidden (hide disabled devices:)
After enabling it works on W10 as same as on W7 -> internal synths have no problem but Windows sounds are crackling:

Hi again,
are there any news regarding Scope 4.5 and Windows 10 (final version)?
Can somebody confirm it will not be possible use Scope 4.5 with 64-bit Windows (only with 32-bit)?
Thank you
Peter

You need to purchase Scope version 5.1 from Sonic Core for 64bit

That's only 10€ a year for the next 16 years!

"I’ve come to the conclusion that synths are like potatoes, they’re no good raw—you’ve got to cook ‘em, and I cooked these sounds for months before I got them to the point where they sounded musical to me." Lyle Mays
Re: Pulsar I + Scope SW 4.5 on W10 32/64bit?
can you get a better new soundcard for 160euro?
if so, do it.
otherwise, why are you so cheap? you paid everyone else for your upgrade.
