no need to cry after sts samplers, vst does it also better
Re: no need to cry after sts samplers, vst does it also bett
didn't try anymore as I am running xp now through a vnc, but are the sts samplers not loadable on x64?
Re: no need to cry after sts samplers, vst does it also bett
KONTAKT,HALION,STRUCTURE all this native sampler have a bad sound (cripy crunchy) and the worst "add latency" .
the sts had a better sound and doesn't make latency like real sampler.
the filtrer are much powerfull in the yamaha a3000.
but the sts is compatible at 96 khz with( wave aif akai sf format).
soundfont sound really good on the sts.(better than wav format in KONTAKT and takes minimum memory).
the only mistake is not making working the sts on a 64 bit os....

Hmm, interesting...
I don't even use samplers. If I need one, I'll dust off my fully loaded Emu ESI-32 Turbo.
Oh yeah, The M3 can apparently sample too...
Honestly, I am not too surprised about the Sonic Core samplers sounding better (I don't remember if I had ever tried them).

if the question is about running a virtual machine, then no.

i know EMU ESI but the problems is :tlaskows wrote:Hmm, interesting...

you cannot run 96 khz sample.
you cannot have multi adat out for mixing the sample in a digital mixer.
the need of a pc editor like sts do.
use midi cc controler probably not easy and have to use (midi cc number).
i think it will not be easy in the future to find sound for emu esi.
if it as is own format for samples it will be more difficult to find free sample.
for sts sample there's 35 gb of free soundfont on internet....
old soundfont sound sometimes "crippy" but the new soundfont sound like real synth.
just have to convert the sondfont in sts to make work the sts well.
sts is not perfect (the filtrers and resonnance not work like other sampler).A3000 is the better for this.
but the only 96 khz hardware sampler is the akai z8 z4 but it doesn't support adat smux for 96 khz.
so for using it you need a master clocks generate different master clock (48 khz.96 khz).
and perhaps it will not work so:
i use the sts,the only virtual hardware sampler working at 96 khz with adat s/mux in the world!
Re: no need to cry after sts samplers, vst does it also bett
I think the ESI32 sounded great... Many filter options with the Turbo (but the FX were a joke).
How can I compare the quality of 44.1 vs 96k? I've recorded in 96k in the past, a long time ago, but I couldn't really tell a difference.

Oh forgot to add that maybe it's because I was using a $200 sound card, 300$ monitors with a 400$ amp and an SM57

Re: no need to cry after sts samplers, vst does it also bett
We did some sampling yesterday.
First used kontakt. Used sound forge to do the actual sampling and load in kontakt and start messing with the filters. Me and my mate looked at each other and said "this sounds shit"
So we dived in and went ahead to use the sts 5000 (always put off from using them due to the negative instability talk on here about them)
Any how's, removed scope from start up as for some reason that prevents them working on xite.
Sampled directly in to the samplers. Made a 1 octave multi sample program.
Started messing with the filters and modulating them etc.
Me and my mate looked at each and said. "Wow, these samplers and its filters etc sound amazing"

That´s it !Liquid EDGE wrote:"Wow, these samplers and its filters etc sound amazing"
I have AKAI S1000, 2 S1100, EMU E64, 2 Oberheim DPX-1,- and NI Kontakt 4.x in NI Komplete-7.
Kontakt sounds good w/ it´s own library stuff, but everything AKAI and EMU I loaded and converted for Kontakt sounds mediocre in Kontakt and compared to the hardware.
STS is great for AKAI format !
You might convert EMU EII/ Emax/EmaxII/ EIII & EoS format into WAV or SF2 Soundfont banks which is native EMU too,- then play in STS samplers.
E.M.X.P http://www.emxp.net/ does all the conversions incl. loops.
STS-3000 / 4000 is enough,- you only need STS-5000 for realtime time-stretching IIRC.
In future you´ll also use BCModular polyphonic sample OSC and w/ SF2, so it´s worth converting old libraries when there´s enough time available.

Bud, do you eventually know an AKAI convertor for mac?

CDxtract 4,- Mac PPC (no Intel Mac!) ... verson 5 in the works though.
Version 4.1 converts SF2 ,several sampler formats, WAV, AIFF
http://www.cdxtract.com/home.php
http://www.soundlib.com/cdxtract/
Chickensys Translator 6,- for Intel Macs and does SF2 too
http://www.chickensys.com/products2/tra ... rmats.html
Didn´t find any freeware.
There are Chickensys Special Edition versions, supporting only one format.
Not much details explained, contact Chickensys.

Thanks Bud, the AKAI Edition would be the one for me, for half the price of the full version.
Thanks a lot

Yeah it really seems that kontakt is great for its own pre made sample banks/library of sounds.Bud Weiser wrote:That´s it !Liquid EDGE wrote:"Wow, these samplers and its filters etc sound amazing"

But for actual sampling and making your own sample banks etc sts wins hands down.
Well that's how I'm using the two from now on. Kontakt to me is like using a proteus 2000. Sts is an actual real sampler and sounds fantastic.
Re: no need to cry after sts samplers, vst does it also bett
I have KONTACT and STS5000 (unusable now with Windows 8.1 64 bit
)
STS5000 is a real good PLAYER, you can play it with nearly no noticeable delays,
like a physical keyboard/synth
while KONTACT has unacceptable delays for real time playing.
So I miss STS5000, hope Sonic Core will release a stable one for 64 bit systems soon...

Re: no need to cry after sts samplers, vst does it also bett
sts5000 32 bit doesn't make any latency like an akai s1000 or yamaha a 3000.anabella wrote:Bye bye sts, I have 64 bit win, and vst samplers are good enough. No need to cry. The bestis still sonic cores synths, fx, mixers a.s.o.
native sampler like kontack work with asio, core audio or dae engine witch cause latency attached to the buffer size used: 32 / 64 / 128 /256.......
all latency compensation in: cubase , protools , logic, reaper, ableton live, energyxt doesn't resolve the latency problem .
you need to adjust the delay attached to the sample rate and buffer size you use when you tracking (record a bass or guitar with native drum sampler :the result is not the same that you had play when you heard what you record).
so yes the fact that sts 5000 doesn't work in a 64 bit os is a great mistake from soniccore.
because the sts5000 is the only digital adat smux 96 khz wav mutitrack hardware sampler of the world!
i hope that soniccore will resolve this compatibility problem on 64 bit os.

Is it REALLY necessary/essential using it in a 64Bit system w/ the background which file formats it supports ?
IMHO,- for someone likeing it so much as you do (and me too), it should not be a biggie having a "vintage" Intel P4/ Win XP Pro SP2 (or3) machine in stock, at least w/ one S|C or Creamware PCI card inserted and running SCOPE 5.1 32Bit.
Cool sampler,- no ?
