lowcost AD/DA converters ?

Hello,

I want to add 8 analog inputs to my Pulsar II.
I saw that there are some lowcost solutions:

_ Berhinger ADA-8000
_ Berhinger ADA-8200
_ Alesis AI3
_ Motu 2408 Mk2 (in standalone mode)
_ Alesis ADAT Black (16 bits)

Any other idea ?
Do I need the Creamware Syncplate ?

No need for the sync plate, you can sync using the ADAT or spdif.

I have the MOTU mk2 (currently only working in standalone mode - after i managed to force the firewire cable in the wrong way ).
Its quiet good, but my impression after getting the Ferrofish A16mk2 is that it feels a bit dull in sound (compared). But its not bad.



I have heard good things about the ADA from behringer, and have considered getting 8200 as a cheap expansion.

The rest on the list is outside my knowledge

I've had this Presonus for a few years now and am very happy with it.

Also, I bought this one (Sonorus-no longer in production)with my original Pulsar1 back in 99 and it is still working fine (in my brother's studio now)

yes, the Presonus is a good sounding choice.

if you are trying to get the most bang for the buck, i'd get the Behringer ADA8000. it's decent and has 8 mic pres that work in addition to the 8 channels of AD/DA for about $230 new.
