On the advice of people on this board I decided to use XP in my new machine instead of Win2k. So I get my card today and install it and it then detects the card find. So I install the drivers and there were only Win2k ones so I assumed it was those.

Anyway, it shows up fine as 'creamware dsp card' with no conflicts or anything. But when I want to play say an mp3 in media player it won't play it and gives me an error about the soundcard not detected etc. Is this because i've not put on the software, justthe drivers? I was just going to use it for now as a soundcard for playing music until I set up a partition with a new xp to load the software.

Any ideas?

Cheers,

Ben

Yes the drivers for win2k are the ones for Xp.
But unfortunetely you also need the software loaded to be able to hear anything, as all the driver is like a container, whereas the real guts and routing comes from the software.
