sandrob - read the 3.1a readme - a very very small download. Actually I'll just post it here directly just in case:
Important Notes SFP v3.1a
The readme file that is displayed during the installation contains further important notes. This readme file is also included as RTF file (Word, Wordpad,..) that is more convenient to read in the root directory of the installation CD or of the unzipped download.
Changes to v3.1
- Installation problems under Win XP / 2000 fixed*
- Improved reading of AKAI CDs under Win XP.
- Unregistered devices are not installed anymore.
- Loading devices from the menu in the Routing Window works as in previous version now (click or drag’n’drop).
- Numerous fixes and optimizations (unfortunately the whole version must be downloaded again for this reason)
* see the following note on the ASPI driver
Installation
On your ’personal page‘ of our homepage you can download a file called allkeys.skf which allows you to import your keys in the setup dialog. If you forgot your login, you can create a new one with just your hardware serial number (-> my page -> Change password) to get access again.
Download the SFP application (sfp_3_1a.zip/sit) and unzip the ZIP file with the option ‘Use folder names’* into an empty folder. If you own the Modular2, download the Modular update (m2_sfp_3_1a.zip/sit) and unzip it into the same folder you unzipped the application files to, also with the option ‘Use folder names’. There should be a ‘Modular 2 Modules’ folder on the same level as the application folders (App, Devicrs, Driver,...) and a ‘Modular2’ subfolder of the Devices folder then. (On the Mac you must manually move the ‘Modular2’ folder into theevices folder.) Then start the installation with setup.exe.
*default of unzip tool in Windows XP
Under Windows XP/2000 in some cases the setup will not start, if the ASPI driver v4.70 is not installed. This driver can be downloaded from Adaptec‘s website (http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/suppor ... /ASPI-4.70). It is still possible that the start of the installation takes some time. The ASPI driver is also important for the recognition of AKAI CDs. If you still do not succeed to start the setup, try to install from drive C:.
If you own optional CreamWare devices, you should install these together with the SFP software. Select the option ‘SCOPE /SP‘ in the setup and enter or import the keys of your devices. A later installation with an OXE file can in some cases be problematic, e.g. the devices of Effect Package 2 are not installed as XCT version or Modular2 modules are installed to a wrong path and do not appear in the Modular menu. We are working on a soon solution for these OXE files.
Some mixer devices like the BigMixer, DynaMixer and the Luna mixers of previous versions are not installed anymore under SFP. However, you can still load these devices from your previous versions or the installation CD of these versions. You can load them directly from there or copy them into the devices folder of SFP.
Application
VDAT does not work under XP/2000/MAC, while under Windows 98/ME only 8 tracks are possible. We will fix this problem with a soon VDAT patch.
Projects of SFP 3.1 that include the devices Channel or Dynamic Mixer cannot be loaded properly in SFP 3.1a. We recommend to delete these devices in SFP 3.1 projects before installing SFP 3.1a.
The preset lists of the Vocodizer are not installed. You can manually copy them from the ..PresetsPlug-InsVocodizer folder of the installation CD or the unzipped download into the ..Presets folder of the SFP software.
There are new versions of the EDS16i and the SB404. If you load a project from a previous version with these devices, the Reference Resolver dialog will come up which must be guided to the new V2 versions of these devices.
same as before. 24bit alt work - 24bit won't.On 2002-05-29 21:50, Noctulius wrote:
Well, is that more than once reported "impossibility of work" with 24-bit WDM fixed? Could anyone who has already installed 3.1a try, say, WaveLab or SoundForge 24-bit Wave recording and say if it's ok?
