How many of you still own and use their NOAH
Just to figure out how many of these units are still in use ...
Re: How many of you still own and use their NOAH
I use my Noah EX, takes the 'big synth' load off my Scope cards, and with ADAT outs into Scope and with the Noah slaved by Wordclock on BNC from my Scope Syncplate, it works great. Scope itself is slaved to an external clock, but there appears to be no need to route wordclock from Syncplate Source to Syncplate Dest - appears to automatically route clock from the Syncplate input to the output, as well as get clock into Scope.
Noah now performs other useful things too - gets me an additional stereo A/D input to Scope, as well as allowing it participate more integrally as an 'outboard' effects processor for tracking - very handy having some EQ / compression / softclip recording acoustic instruments, and routing Analog In to the ProOne's filters for processing before recording the audio.
That, and not having to switch on a PC in order to play Creamware synths is the biz!
Mapped out a few knobs on my Midi Controller to transmit CC to Noah for standalone performance.. not least my midi guitar, playing harp sounds on SixString or thundering overdriven Minimax basslines processed by Interpole!
But I do have a Noah for sale, if anyone is interested... Not only does it provide the above, but it's a cheap way to get some Scope pay-for synth action! Like the ARP Prodyssey...

Not because it is easy, but because it is hard...
Re: How many of you still own and use their NOAH
So you have one NOAH Ex and one NOAH (which is for sale) ?
Re: How many of you still own and use their NOAH
Yep, that's it.
I've already voted to say I use my Noah EX btw...

So 4 NOAH Ex Only ?
This means I own 50% of them ...

Re: How many of you still own and use their NOAH
Haven't needed to use my Ex for a few years, but when I do it is for extra dsp in the studio, a portable fx unit, or as a bass synth in conjunction with bass pedals.
Re: How many of you still own and use their NOAH
I use the noah all the time for its synth! Love the box!!

I already have 2 Noah Ex , 3 PC with PCI cards and the Xite-1 !!!
... And I forgot to mention the ASB and the plugiators.

So already enough cables to play with here ...

Noah Ex are most easy to switch on and play, though, no computer needed in case you just want to play music quickly ...
In such case, I just use the ASB and NOAH ...
Re: How many of you still own and use their NOAH
+ 1 (NOAH EX)
Re: How many of you still own and use their NOAH
This is an old thread, but I guess that doesn't matter. I have 1 Noah EX which I use a lot. I mainly for its huge, weird stereo pads which work perfectly along with analogue mono sounds. That machine really added something special to my sound and I'm very happy I found this gem

Re: How many of you still own and use their NOAH
I use my Noah EX !
Just built it into a 10U double-door rack together w/ S|C XITE-1, S|C A16U blackface, Rosendahl masterclock, Steinberg Timelock Pro, MIDEX-8 MIDI interface, Adam Hall power conditioner and a few 0.5HU ventilation panels.
Now it needs some new power-, analog- and digital wireing.
B.t.w.,- did anyone ever find a less bulky and lighter line lump type 230V input w/ 12V AC / 1.5A output PSU for Creamware/Sonic Core A16U AD/DA?

The S|C A16U PSU is mounted to the 2HU blind panel (see 4 screws in the middle).
I´ll add XITE-1 PSU and laptop PSU as well.
Noah EX ADAT-Out runs into XITE-1 ADAT- A In,- but was not connected to STM mixer when I made the pics.
Noah EX remote Editor on Acer laptop (Win XP SP3).
All drivers installed and working,- Wave, USB, MIDI.
Didn´t test ASIO up to now.
Scope/XITE v7.0 environment ...
XITE-1 is currently connected to DAW rackmount.
No pics w/ laptop/PCIexpresscard34 a.t.m..

Nice. You are the new Dawman ! What's that red sticker on the front of the Noah for ? And you still have a MIDEX8 piece of crap mounted. Ill only press mine back into service if I have no choice.

Re: How many of you still own and use their NOAH
Thx,- I wished we´d have the original one with us here.
It´s just only a short guide how to activate MIDIfile demos for some of the Noah´s patches by pressing the encoder below.
Made sense when the machine was sold new in the past and is still usable for a quick audio out test w/o a MIDI keyboard being connected or when MIDI might fail.
Since my DAW rackmount, where the Midex-8 is connected to, is Win7 Pro SP1 still,- MIdex-8 works like a charme w/ 64Bit driver downloaded from Steinberg ftp server.dante wrote: Wed Oct 05, 2022 10:57 am And you still have a MIDEX8 piece of crap mounted. It works w/ Studio One Pro, Reaper and Reason 10/ 11.
I´ll use it ´til I find and can afford my "ideal" MIDI over LAN interface.
I tried to grab a iConnectivity mio10 @ german ebay classifieds, but I didn´t happen until now.
I´m unsure about the iConnectivity mio XL´s editor working in Win 7 ´cause only Win10/11 is officially supported.
And,- I was in contact w/ belgium Alyseum company,- formerly manufacturing Copperlan supported Midi over LAN interfaces.
They stopped Copperlan support ´cause there´s inactivity since somewhere 2017 and they have a new Midi over LAN interface supporting rtpMIDI in the pipeline.
But will not be available before 3rd Q 2023.
Anyway,- the Midex-8 in that XITE / NOAH EX rack will be replaced by Miditemp PMM88E anyway because I´ll use the 5-Pin DIN physical MIDI I/Os of XITE-1 and NOAH EX.
I just only need the right length MIDI cables w/ angled plugs on one side.

MIDEX8 lost me at sysex bulk dump. My new MIDI rig is as follows and rock solid:
Its bidirectional as the ports will work either as IN's or OUT's. Haven't tested with sysex bulk dump yet but will be great to use with my Rack Mounted DB50GX and a laptop with XG-Gold both feeding down the one cable.

I own that too and I´m happy w/ it like you are !
It was the very 1st accessory I bought for Win10 laptop.
So, my smallest rig is laptop, ASIO4ALL, Reaper, class-compliant Esi Midimate Ex and any MIDI keyboard lacking USB.
B.t.w., SysEx is perfect w/ BOME "SendX" application.
I re-loaded several soundbanks into Roland D-550, Roland U220, Yamaha TG-77, Yamaha TG-500 as also on related cardridges after repair, service, battery exchange.
Great MIDI tool !
O.T.:
Yesterday, I tried NoahEX WAVE driver as Windows "standard" audio device on ancient ACER Intel Pentium Dual Core 2.3GHz WinXP SP3 laptop, playing back some music via Noah EX analog outputs and phones output.
I was really surprised how good it sounds !
And it acts as a MIDI interface for Windows too ...
