possible to apply fx to live ASIO(cubase) input?

Post by minipax »

How do I route live audio from scope synth to an ASIO input in cubase, and apply fx to that audio in real-time?

I can record the synth onto a cubase audio track, and then apply the fx, But i wish to audition the fx without recording for the time being. Is it possible? I would like the audio input in cubase to just 'pass thru' to an asio output bus.

as i understand you use a scope synth to a scope mixer input and rout it to cubase throu asio dest.

Have the audio channel sending to cubase but with mix turned OFF(green button) then the channel that receives the scope audio in cubase must send to another output and NOT the same... so the other output goes to another scope mixer channel through the asio source. this channel is with MIX ON and can have effects On, audible(wet audio signal) but the cubase track records it dry!

Now if you want to record the dry signal.. create a 2nd cubase audio channel for the wet audio.

In general i believe that it is good for everybody to learn how to work with channels in pair. 1 channel for the dry and a 2nd for the wet signal.
In scope mixers as well. 1 channel dry and the other wet.

P.S. if you record from a sciope analog source.. then you deffenately have to keep the dry channel MIX OFF(this way you will avoid terrible feedback)
For scope synths it is not that necessary, but you will have to avoid monitoring throug the cubase audio channel.... (you can record but not monitor, because you will have audio feedback).
