hi guys,
i know this is probably asked all the time but a search of the forums gave me nothing...

how do i hook my CD player up to my pulsar?

i tried routing all software outputs into the mixer but couldn't get any sound from the from my CD-ROM (everything else works fine). The CD plays fine for my SBLive!.

ok, the definite problem is that there is no sound cable going internally from the CD-ROM to the pulsar right? i don't remember an audio connector on the Pulsar so what do i do? surely i should be able to route the output of the SBLive! to my bigMixer internally, or do i have to physically connect the outputs of the SBLive! to the pulsar inputs?

i tried routing the "soundcard dest" module to the mixer but again nothing.

thank you!

pulsar don't need cable to play from cd. just add wave source in your project and use some player like winamp, media player, tractor....
btw: in win98 i use winamp and now in xp i use windows media player what comes with xp instalation.

for winamp you must instal cd reader plugin!!

thanks,
my wave source is constantly hooked up to my mixer and i can play Mp3's etc.. from jukebox but i can't hear CD audio at all!

do i need to set my SBLive! as the main wave device in my windows settings or something?

mp3 you can play anyway but for cd you must use winmedia player 7.0 or higher or winamp with cd reader plugin instaled.
then you can play your cd with pulsar (without sb-live, or any psychical cable connection) trough pulsar's wave source.

The sound quality is much better too as it reads it straight from the disc, bypassing the cheapo convertors on the card, and interference from using an internal connector (analogue or digital)

Go to Device Manager, browse to cdrom, get Properties, tab page Properties once more, 'Enable' digital CD audio for this device.

Hi guys,

When playing a cd (or file) from the windows media player, I get crackling sounds... It happens whether the "enable digital CD audio for this device" is checked or not...

I've hooked it up with a wave source...

any ideas?

In my experience its down to two things
  1. The cd is dirty or scratched. In windows media player options enable error correction (you need one of the later versions though not the stock w98 one)
  2. The fact that WinMediaPlayer is a bag of s*** try downloading winamp and then installing the digital cd player option from the net, as sandrob suggested above.
