You probably enabled 'compatibility mode' (a small button with a square icon) for the NI website. It's a feature in IE8 and you can disable it..
Either that or you're running without flash/javascript, both of which are also (unfortunately) necessary for the upper header navigation on the NI site.

I agree...but NI inquiries on a S|C DSP forum?
Would not that better be served on a NI forum?
I know it is in "Off Topic" but really?

Yeah, forget IE and get a proper browser like Firefox.
Re: http://www.native-instruments.com/ and Internet Explor
Click Start/Control Panel/Administrator Tools/Services.
Scroll down to the NI Services entry.
Ignore the bull about it stopping your hardware from working.
Right click it and select 'Properties'.
Change the start up option from 'Automatic' to 'Disabled'.
Restart your PC.
See if that works. It did for me!

the NI page loads fine on ie8 here.....
Re: http://www.native-instruments.com/ and Internet Explor
I tried it yesterday and it worked again in IE8, nothing altered.
Re: http://www.native-instruments.com/ and Internet Explor
I started getting the IE6 not compatible message after downloading a crack for guitar rig 4.
The cracked version was garbage. So... MY fault for being flippant about cracks.
But that's the beauty of having an eBay homemade PC just for filesharing and risky activities.
I don't think this problem has anything to do with Internet Explorer 8. I'm using 7, and it was happening on my PC. I upgraded to 8, and it continued to happen.

crack kills.
it's bad for you, since work arounds of copywrite protection schemes lead to instability and cracks are generally a haven for virii, and they starve developers.

when it comes to piracy, i tend only to grab stuff i wouldn't have bought anyway, so i don't feel as if i'm depriving anyone of a livelihood.
if a thing is good, i'm quite happy to pay the creator.
i truly believe however that piracy is an unavoidable part of capitalism.
piracy is the product of inequality, but pirates arent the ones who want things to remain unequal.

Re: http://www.native-instruments.com/ and Internet Explor
hey, whatever, there are lots of ways to rationalize these things. the thing is that cracks are bad for your computer. they don't work right, because bypassing the protection always screws up the program and they are a haven for virii. pirates don't care about you any more than developers do, usually they care even less.
i'm not censuring your morals, i'm just suggesting that there's nothing to be gained from cracks, especially if you need the computer to work properly.

Re: http://www.native-instruments.com/ and Internet Explor
you're totally right. if people want to keep their pcs secure and functioning correctly, stay away from pirated software; it's a minefield.
went off on a bit of a tangent there about piracy in general, sorry.

I can atest to this as my son had a cracked version of FL Studio. I was unaware of this as he installed this on his PC up in Tahoe, But I have fixed it since it had a weird virus, but my online PC's here have no such issues.
So when he explained about his little scam a Brotha' taught him, I had him remove it from his PC and bought him a licesnsed FL and the Autotune 7.0.
No more problems........
