Or you could try using your own common sense for fuck's sake - or can't you think for yourself without the internet telling you?johndunn wrote: Weasel words started after a few of us took the bait and tried to install it, and reported failure. Re: SCOPE 5.1
I was wondering when we were back at NAMM 09 where several SoCal and Midwest guys met the S|C guys and saw Scope 5.0 in 64bit w/ a connector card and Vista 64 how on Earth that they had that working. Somebody obviously has some knowledge of this.
But I wont loose any sleep over this.
However having to reload Kontakt 3 times during a session because I am in 32bit XP still is kind of embarrassing. The engineers immediately start texting and going to grab a beer, etc. while I stare at my DAW watching it load.
I look forward to wetting my pants.......

yeah Jimmy, some things just work...
like the pay-per-view-ticket from my cable TV supplier that never expired and continues to give me 3 extra channels since a year or so...
you know who's afraid of ANY software updates on their Linux-boxy-thingie, don't you ?
cheers, Tom

Re: SCOPE 5.1
Not that i am a mind reader, but i guess there are shitloads of half-truths and misinterpretations in this thread.
How i see it:
a) the scope installer john have a picture of is from the installer telling you its not installable on a 64 bit system. this is probably configured when SC made the installer.
b) if you have a dual boot system (32 and 64 bits) you could boot your 32bit, install SCOPE, reboot, boot into 64 bit and launch the application.
c) now, i dont remember if scope refuses to start without correct drivers. i suspect it does refuse, but maybe it doesnt. if it doesnt, you could probably run the application, but you wouldn't have any sound (because of lack of drivers).
This of course is "running scope" on a very, very basic level.
However it would be great to have this up in the clear earlier, but ofcourse, if the drivers indeed work in 64bit thats great and i would like that confirmed again.

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

Well...you can not do that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!You can't start SCOPE application without a proper driver installed.Period.next to nothing wrote:Not that i am a mind reader, but i guess there are shitloads of half-truths and misinterpretations in this thread.

This is a forum for sharing information on Scope, and a very good one at that. But it starts breaking down when disinformation is propagated, especially if it's intentional lying which that appeared to be. I asked for conformation and got specifics (before he started with the weasel words):
Now, I don't send my bank numbers to email that claims I've won a lottery I never entered. But when a long time member of an info sharing board like this one makes a specific claim, I'm inclined to believe him. Until I test it for myself, that is. And if I've been duped for no good reason, I get a little pissed off. Enough said.siriusbliss wrote:It runs as a 32-bit app for now until the 64-bit drivers arrive.johndunn wrote:You have Scope running in Win7/64? How?
It's been rock solid here in W7 Ultimate. (I decided to be the guinea pig).
By the way, it could be that SC only releases 64-bit ASIO drivers, while Scope itself remains a 32-bit app, since Scope doesn't need 16G RAM on big monolith 64-bit environment anyways. Let Scope DSP be used for throughput horsepower, which leaves the RAM available for big thirsty VSTi's nad host software.

I said that I TRIED installing it on 32bit partition and it worked. Period.
I didn't pull any tricks or workarounds. It was a just a trial to see if the drivers would work.
If it doesn't work on your system, then I don't know what to say.
I didn't expect it to work, but it is (so far).
Stop spreading venom for venom.
64-bit will come.

Again, I should've been clear about the 32-bit install on 64-bit system.johndunn wrote:This is the post that started this "works in 64-bit" sub thread. That's how it usually works out.

No lying intended.
I already know I'm an asshole sometimes, but please stop the insinuations.

No, but you're obviously a homophobic bigot. You were the one with the venom calling people assholes and saying you've been purposely duped when, even to a complete computer fuckwit like myself, it was obvious that siriusbliss was talking about 32-bit on a 64-bit machine, or has that still not got through yet?johndunn wrote: What the hell is this venom about? Re: SCOPE 5.1
OK, I accept that you are a "complete computer fuckwit." He was clearly and explicitly talking about running a 32 bit app on a 64 bit OS ("W7 64-bit"), not on a 64 bit machine. Virtually *all* PCs these days are 64 bit machines.

No, virtually all NEW PCs are 64-bit, I still see plenty XP 32-bitters running Avids in professional television companies.johndunn wrote:Virtually *all* PCs these days are 64 bit machines.

How about some light relief here....

I think the only thing that will cheer up this thread is SC pulling there fingers out and getting the 64 bit drivers released

The funguy joke aint bad, but something more funnier would be if, as if in a sci-fi movie, everyone in this thread all magically beamed into the same room......
Re: SCOPE 5.1
XITE owners in the same room with Scope PCI owners?

Most Avid users are on a Mac. Maximum RAM on a Mac Pro is 32 gigs. Maximum RAM under Windows XP is 4 gigs.Mr Arkadin wrote:

Avid owns M-Audio. M-Audio was one of the first companies to offer 64-bit drivers which were free to owners of current cards.
Avid is a successful company run by intelligent people.

Re: SCOPE 5.1
Well I'm talking about the UK - and I can guarantee that most Avids are on PC - I use them and I know the difference between a PC and Mac. They used to be Mac because that's all you could get. Once the PC version was available people went for that because it was cheap. Most Mac users I see now use Final Cut Pro - no doubt as there is no PC version. I can't speak for the US obviously, I bet you don't work in the TV industry though so please show me where you got your figures. The other stuff you mention is irrelevant to this discussion.braincell wrote: Most Avid users are on a Mac. Maximum RAM on a Mac Pro is 32 gigs. Maximum RAM under Windows XP is 4 gigs.
