3 GB on an asus p4c800-e deluxe

Post by bosone »

i have an asus p4c800 with 2GB ram (2x1GB), corsair twin X pc3200, CL2.
i'd like to upgrade to 3 GB, since 4 GB with win XP are almost worthless.

what kind of ram should i buy?
i now use dual channel, should i buy 2x512?
any experience on this?

thanks!

I would just get 4GB anyway. Depending on your graphics card and what other peripherals are installed (and your BIOS settings) you'll have somewhere between 3.1GB and 3.5GB 'available' to XP. Plus you can use identically matched sticks in all slots *or* drop the existing 2x1GB sticks for a pair of 2x2GB (if you can find them.)
