im trying to sync between 2 pc (midi cable and smpte)
everything works nice but slave pc start after 2.16sec. i put this question to gearslutz but they said to set the offset by -2.16sec which is not possible in sonar. somehow what i understand after hitting the 1st pc 2nd pc understand after 2.16sec...
can anyone help.
thanks
sync between 2 pc.
Re: sync between 2 pc.
that's the nature of this setup...
pc2 gets TC and tries to sync...
SMPTE is TC format, so maybe you're only able to deal with frames (1sec = 25 frames).
Sonar should be able to set a offset in hh;mm;ss;fr format.
Personally I don't feel very cool syncing 2 systems like this... Even if Master is for sound
and 2nd pc 'only' for picture, you will get 3 slightly different results when playing back 3 times...
I would prefer transmitting SMPTE via network not via midi cable...It is faster... Most apps written for that have a offset feature built in...
I'm using mol by musiclab cause it's crossplatform but I'm sure there are freeware apps for only pc.

I personally think a 'all in one box' solution is much more reliable, that's why I went MAC (Logic with node feature) or I use ProTools satellite... (I don't own it
