it is so simple, that it's not even obvious anymore.
if you're a happy, crappy VSTi based producer - go for it ... the stuff is omnipresent and cheap
no need to rant about another overpriced system
even more if the person's ears have lost track to quality
Above I've cut the original section of a song from 72 right after it's iTunes excerpt
iTunes previews are exactly the quality you purchase - that is what people are used to today
it has nothing to do with analog versus digital, because my online copy is digitized, too

I wonder about the arguments of such messiasses - what's this sh*t for ?
Has there ever been a single idea posted beyond the obvious 'you can do more graphics tricks...' ?
if I'm tempted to spend a 5-figure amount on an instrument then it's my business and I don't mind anyone calling me a snob
a true 'professional' will never waste a thought about the stuff cycling through such threads
if you need Scope sound or functionality - a 2nd machine in the studio rack is the way to go
it's dead cheap and will simply work, a first class box with 24 channels of Adat IO is $ 1.5k
the amount of a better entry bass (to quote the example...)
in the context of 'money earning' there is absolutely no discussion beyond this point. period
it simply doesn't matter if 64bit or an OS version are available or not or whenever...
the thing does it's job in the rack - the rest is simply nerd and geek talk
ok, that has it's fun part, too... from time to time ...

now comes the psychological fine-print
... ah, the company isn't up to date... bla bla... don't support this yet ... bla bla... loosers... bla
as the M$ experience tells, one can't be too confident about people's abilities to tell bs from facts
or how far a customer's patience can be stressed
so I'm not that sure if 'professional' (in the strict sense of making cash) arguments will hold here...

but it's a matter of fact that boards like this a favourite target to discredit something or someone.
funny if the prosecutor (pointing his finger...) takes this role himself
cheers, Tom
